New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo will announce plans to legalize medical marijuana through an executive order, according to a published report Saturday.

Cuomo is expected to legalize medical marijuana on a limited basis at 20 hospitals for specific conditions, the New York Times reported Saturday evening. Cuomo will make the announcement during his State of the State address on Wednesday, the newspaper said, citing unnamed state officials.

The move would be a shift for Cuomo, who is up for re-election in November. As recently as April, he voiced opposition to the idea, questioning whether it could be properly regulated. But he also has said that he would keep an open mind on the issue, saying it is an "evolving one."

"I do not support medical marijuana. I understand the pros and cons. I understand the argument," the Democratic governor told reporters then. "We are looking at it, but at this point, I don't support medical marijuana."

This may set a good precedent.. I the Governor dont agree with the federal government so I will just tell my state to do what we want.. good im sick of the whole damn country trying to live the same way.. we are all different people and belive and live in different ways.. and different places should be allowed to work different. coexist right.. but that would mean tolerance. But this just lends more proof that the federal government is so far from doing what the people need and want on so many issues.. to busy trying to sabotage the other parties plans to pay attention to the people and their needs... fine with me as the less we "need" them the better.

That sounds really unexciting. If it's anything like pain management, it's easier to get heroin outside a hospital than adequate analgesia inside one. Doctors and administrators are way too paranoid, and the nurses tend to be AA/NA drones that will dropkick you out the door the moment they spot a piercing or tattoo.

Doctors are paranoid because people always blame them. If they give their patients controlled drugs too easily people will blame them when they're addicted (in regards to opioids, not marijuana, that carries more of a social stigma, but it's decreasing, for better or worse), if they don't give them controlled drugs easily, then people will blame them for prematurely passing judgment.

Of course nurses are going to make the same premature decisions, they've seen enough people be ungrateful to them despite giving them care, it makes one bitter, they can't see whether or not you're a good person inside your heart just by looking at you
