Stimulants Replacements that don't cause cross tolerance?

Strip mall. :p
I have to stop taking them. I know I can use caffeine in the meantime since it doesn't work on dopamine. I am going to be using that for quit a bit. The safety of this chemical though... I don't know how safe it is on the cardiovascular system versus Adderall and Dexedrine, although I assume its worst.

Just wondering what other things i can use that don't have any cross tolerance. I really want to quit, but I know I won't be able to stop all stimulants, I would rather have a crappy replacement.

L-Tyrosine is out of the picture, as it does affect dopamine levels.

Concerta(Methylphenidate) isn't an amphetamine, and could definitely be considered a *crappy* replacement, however i am unsure if it would have a cross tolerance.

Any other non amphetamine ADD/ADHD medications? Again, i am not sure if they have cross tolerance to amphetamines/work on dopamine.

I believe amphetamine and drugs with DRI properties most likely have cross-tolerance, for instance, people who use cocaine regularly will likely not be "blown away" by baseline doses of amphetamines, and are more often to take full to large doses of amphetamines for what most people seek out by taking normal baseline to medium doses.

Tolerance is basically down-regulation of a certain receptor.. Dopamine agonists will down-regulate dopamine recptors = (partial) tolerance to all dopamine agonists.

Like other commonly (ab)used stimulants, modafinil DOES increase dopamine in the striatum and NAcc but...

While the co-administration of a dopamine antagonist is known to decrease the stimulant effect of amphetamine, it does not entirely negate the wakefulness-promoting actions of modafinil. Modafinil activates glutamatergic circuits while inhibiting GABAergic neurotransmission

^that's just the dextrorotary enantiomer of methylphenidate (ritalin/concerta) which was discussed above. There will be cross-tolerance with that.

I hope this bump isn't too long, but I found a good replacement for now, taking Namenda, it doesn't really give me energy but it treats ADD pretty well, and I'm gonna save the amphetamines for later. Hopefully I get Selegiline as well.

I hope it works out for you, I'll go ahead and close this since it ran its course. You can PM me if you have other questions man. :)

I forget the exacts, but tolerance is from two main things for all stimults: Low dopamine level(as you know from things like amphetamines, not from things like methylphenidate(ritalin) or cocaine (unless I'm wrong) since they don't release dopamine) and down regulation dopamine receptors. Thats the one that will cause all kinds of cross tolerance...un avoidable if you use much since every stimulant causes more dopamine binding to receptors than you would have otherwise had.
Something feels a little off with how I worded all that but that's the general picture.

I would assume caffeine is a lot safer on the cardiovascular system then amphetamine and methamphetamine, unless I am reading your post wrong and that wasn't what you were saying.

Thats what I was saying, but on the other hand, I read that taking amphetamines is healthier than caffeine on the body, not for the mind though.

So far I'm dosing on 50mg of Tramadol and 5mg of Namenda, its okay for now.

I tried Requip yesterday and 1mg was okay, added the other 1mg and I felt sick shitty and tired. Decided gonna take some Adderall and it did nothing. Haha, fucking requip.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure caffeine doesn't do that.

Yea i don't handle caffeine well at all - it makes me depressed and anxious

I have relatively few problems with d-amp tho

They use different methods for keeping you up. amphetamines kinda make you feel like you're doing something really useful and awesome so you feel awake and focused. Its like taking away lameness.

Really? Not for me. That's interesting

I drink a little caffeine (like green or black tea) if i want to sleep. It makes me tired

I wish that I had kicked the amphetamines a little smarter than I did. It might have saved me from the anxiety and depression. I simply quit the amphetamines cold turkey. I drank a little bit of coffee at first but not very much, maybe one cup every couple of days...
