Opioids Removing tolerance with DXM

I only take the hydrocodone im prescribed once every 2 or 3 weeks, but after a year of that I have slowly developed a tolerance.
I was planning on taking DXM every day for about two weeks, and then after that take it whenever i take a dose of hydro.
A few questions:

Will this plan work? How long would you recommend taking the DXM for?

Also what I have is cough and cold: DXM HBr 30 mg & Chlorpheniramine maleate 4mg. Now i know of the dangers of the second ingredient when one is trying to take a large dose for some psychoactive effect, but I have no interest in that at all, I just wanna take the regular single dose once a day in order to get my hydro tolerance down. Would this be safe and would the Chlorpheniramine maleate cause any problems at all?

Yes it's probably safe to take cough medicine 14 days in a row at the recommended dosage, although probably not advised. Is it going to lower your tolerance? Probably not, but staying off hydro for 2 weeks will. I think tripping hard on a dissociative once, then staying clean for a couple weeks would be more effective. But you can't do that with the dxm prep you have, it's gotta be dxm only.

Your post isn't that clear - are you trying to substitute opiates with DXM over a timed period and reduce your tolerance that way, or are you trying to use DXM to physically lower your opiate tolerance?

Sorry, no I don't want to substitute dxm for opiates I just read that dmx acts on receptors to physically lower tolerance. And yes Im actually on my 3rd week without opiates, but trying to do all I can to lower my tolerance
