After being shot, with the bullet going through my L2 vertebrae, and being hit by a mortar, I dealt with the pain for as long as I could until it was unbearable anymore. Alternative therapies didn't work, and finally after indicating I could no longer live in pain and was going to take my life, I was given tramadol. Tramadol literally saved my life and I used it responsibly and never abused it or got high from it. After nearly a decade of successful pain management with it, the VA has decided to discontinue medication for long term pain management. I am now left in constant agony and am seeking medication from other sources. I would prefer to remain on a legally prescribed medication but that is not an option so here I am.

First of all, thank you for serving our country!

Welcome to Bluelight. I am very sorry to hear of your pain and challenges with the VA. I have two friends who need to go through the VA for everything and they have nothing but problems. See if your benefits will cover an outside doctor or pain clinic (I'm not sure how your insurance works). Take care, and good luck.

Sincerely,
Dreamflyer
