Religion vs. Spirituality

Pretty sure this has been a thread b4 but I am certain bluelight has grown since its been talked about and I didnt want 2 bump an old ass thread. First,let me say love how this forum is titled Philosophy and Spirituality instead of Religion,which brings me 2 the topic of this thread.

Whats everyones take on the ideas of Religion vs. Spirituality? Same thing? Similar? Or completly different? I personally have always consider religion mans attempt 2 organize the chaos of things they dont understand and put the concepts of God under their control and force those concepts on others.

Spirituality on the other hand is more personal and relates to the individual and their own concepts on God,the Universe,and where they belong n it. Spirituality isnt forced upon others,those who are Spiritual are more compassionate and understanding of others beliefs,as opposed to Religious ppl who typically seem to think their way is the only correct one.

Not trying to start trouble with this thread,but honestly I dont think it will(considering the wording of the name of this forum). Anyone else feel this way about this idea or have anything to add on either side of the issue? Will add more myself when my phone charges some.

In my opinion Religion is mans way of attempting to create a structure for, and teach spirituality. Religions are a verified legal institution.

My interpretation of it is spiritual feelings and experiences are something that cannot be immediately/easily explained with rationality and science, though with a better understanding of neurology eventually we might be able to. As well, even though such experiences might have a reasonable explanation, knowable or not, it doesn't make them less special, they are still the strongest of feelings and the most pivotal moments(most of the time). The point it crosses into religion is when people attempt to explain such feelings/occurrences with the supernatural as well as incorporating dogma and ritual as a means to access such things.

Some people may define spirituality more broadly by incorporating any supernatural beliefs not rooted in organized religion. While I might be inclined to accept that as a viable definition I could not use it myself as I believe the closest thing to the super natural that actually exists is quantum entanglement.

To be spiritual is to entertain the possibility that there may be a plan or purpose behind why you are living your life right now.

To be religious is to gather in solidarity with others who entertain similar ideas of what that plan or purpose to their lives might be.

Spirituality is subjective. Religion is people.
