Relationships on MDMA

Hi all

I've been taking mdma for a few months now. I drop with a group of my close friends every fortnight or so, especially one girl who I become very close to while I'm rolling. As soon as we come up we act as though we're madly in love with each other, and I have the best nights of my life with her and I know she does too. However, when we start to come down we go back into our shells again, and it's almost as if it never happened (until we roll again). I know there is something between us, but why can we only show it when we're bopping? Advice on where to go from here would be excellent as it's driving me up the wall! :(

In my experience, MDMA relationships are mostly hot air. If you have nothing while you're sober then you'll probably not have much when you return to sobriety. I can talk to pretty much anyone while I'm on MDMA and feel totally great with them. When I'm sober it's a different story.

I do believe that MDMA is heart medicine. It opens up your heart and your ability to really see and appreciate other people. Maybe what you and this young woman experience on MDMA is what it would be like if you were both at heart-centred places in your lives (without the drugs). But if you've only been getting to know her when you're both high then you might not be getting a clear image of your relationship. It's kind of like beer goggles, MDMA style.

Plus, it sounds like you want to be closer but maybe she doesn't, which means on a more practical level that she might not be ready for a relationship but you are. I would avoid doing MDMA more often in order for you two to meet eye to eye because that path will only end in tears. If it's real it will last beyond the high. Try to be honest with yourself about that.

If you continue to take MDMA every two weeks, you'll wind up with some bad comedowns and potentially other negative effects like anxiety or depression down the line. Space your rolls at least one month apart, preferably two or three, to avoid damaging your brain's serotonin system.

As for your relationship issue, why don't you just tell the girl how you feel?

I have often regarded MDMA sex as being "A Dream". While the emotions and intensity may seem real while it is happening (which they very well are), the lasting effect of these emotions are temporary. Even though you two may not be emotionally compatible, while on ecstasy it may seem as if you really are. The illusion can be negative or positive depending on your ability to understand it.

There are many reasons it is the love drug.
