Regular Use Of Nutmeg

I am currently being heavily drug tested so i can't use weed or psyches so i have to turn to nutmeg, which i found to great drug. the taste doesn't bother me(i love strong tasting things for some reason) and the high is somewhere between very good weed and a low dose of a classic psyche(esp mescaline for some reason). imo it is a nice psychedelic intoxicant(but it isn't weak like i though it would be at first considering it was legal, somewhat unknown, and so easily obtained).

excuse me if this sounds like a stupid question but is this wrong or bad? i've looked into the health risks and they seem somewhat split and unclear but i haven't experienced any negative health effects.

anyways i'd appreciate your input. :)

Nutmeg does contain some pretty wacky alkenylbenzenes (elemicin, myrsticin, safrole) but I don't think they are all that toxic like the FDA claims (well, for safrole at least... wonder why 8().

I think anything that's used as a culinary spice is fine to intake in fairly large amounts. It's been used as an antidepressant euphoriant for a few hundred years. Are you using whole nuts or powdered nutmeg, and how much? How often do you dose?

usually the powdered as i haven't noticed a real difference in effects from the whole nuts, i usually dose at 25-40g sometimes every day(at lest 5 days a week).

also you say it has been used as an antidepressant? i have noticed a powerful antidepressant effect, stronger than any Rx antidepressant and even weed. i would say nutmeg is a better antidepressant than ketamine because nutmeg is more practical for daily use, at least to me.

I've nothing more then anecdotal evidence to counter that, but I don't think its very sound reasoning. Just because nutmeg is used as a spice means very little inregards to its safety as a drug. The amount of nutmeg used in cooking is a lot less then what is needed to get high...

OP, I would be cautious about your use. Nutmeg is alleged to cause liver problems. Why not use something like mescaline/cactii, not many drug tests are designed to detect that....?

I've seen nothing but anecdotes relating to myrsticin/safrole's supposed liver toxicity. As far as I know the toxicity was only seen with huge doses of safrole in rats and I still have yet to hear of a nutmeg induced liver failure.

As intoxicants go, nutmeg seems to be a pretty harmless if unpleasant substance.

Eugenol is genotoxic too but nobody controls clove oil.
Or clove induced cancer. Pure eugenol is used in dentistry!

I think its a good idea to keep seeing your doctor, but don't expect to drop dead or turn yellow from liver damage.

Nutmeg is alleged to cause liver problems.

i've heard that to but i've read studies that contradict that and say that its actually hepatoprotective.

just to be safe is there any supplement i could take to keep my liver healthy(like milk thistle)?

I'm not encouraging you to break the law but what psychedelics are you being tested for? AFAIK, psyches are hard to test for. I'll be honest here and say there was a time in my life where I was being tested and the only pyschedelic I didn't use was marijuana.

I'm not encouraging you to use other psychedelics but I'm saying that you'd be safe from a test faliure in most circumstances if you chose to..

I can agree ^

Most psyches only stay in your system for a short amount of time,
I mean most drug tests have a hard time catching meth-heads and coke heads so long as they aren't abusing ALL DAY EVERY DAY because of how quickly it leaves your system.
I've also know a few fellers who get tested and get away with smoking oxycodone as even though it's an opiate it only stays in the system for a few days smoked, that's what they say at least, and claim they havn't failed a test yet.

As far as psyches go, they generally aren't addicting so you dont have to worry about HAVING to do them every day and resorting to getting caught through fiendishness. (i used to work at a head shop, its funny when people who do stims come in looking for shit to get clean, when all they have to do is wait a day and a half)
Also, there aren't tests for all of them, especially most of the RCs, thought I've heard some of them come up false positive on the more simple tests, and some of them break down to leave illegal toxins in your system, just look into any substance you want to try.

Also as far as taking Nutmeg goes.

WHY THE FUCK DONT YOU JUST TAKE KRATOM??
it might not have any psychedelic edge (unless you add cannabis, which is VERY nice) but It seems like it would give you some effects you desire without being illegal,
and if you can't consume cannabis, aim for a synthetic cannabinoid that isnt currently being tested for, mix with the kratom, enjoy.

also i'm sure they dont test for the legal herbs, like amanita muscaria, and the LSA-bearing seeds, or the mystery alkaloids of the mimosa hostilis, which are damn fancy by the way.

I'm sure theres more better alternatives than doing Nutmeg, from reports i've read and from some people I know that've done it, they've never said a good thing about it, maybe some euphoria, but a general overall "wierd" feeling that gets to be uncomfortable, especially with the long duration.
seems almost like a DxM to me, peh.

Don't mean to derail the thread but mystery alkaloids in mimosa hostilis? Isn't the DMT content the important part?

^ Yes DMT is important, but if he's worrying THAT much about the drug test he could always remove the DMT, and there are many powerful psychoactives in the mimosa hostilis, depending on how you extract it depends on how many you get.

I also forgot to add,

URB597!
Apparently it's like a good dose of cannabis and opiates all in just a 3mg dose, I've also heard it'll make you pass out on the tail end, but this isnt much different than kratom for that matter.
I also assume since it's relatively new on the market (though been around for a while) That there is no solid test for it.

Let's not turn this into a "legal drugs suggestion thread". Different people have different tastes for their psychedelic experience - telling someone to rush out and buy a bunch of either unlabeled and possibly illegal chemicals (synth cannabinoids) or experimental new drugs (URB) is kind of reckless when you're talking about someone who regularly consumes a verified botanical substance.

I was stating more from a quality-high point of view,

But of course taking for the most part unknown substances is risky.

and like I said, RESEARCH THE SYNTHETIC CANNABINOID before purchasing, as buying random spice at a gas station wont ensure that it's not one they test for, or metabolizes into something they test for, or for that even, metabolizes into something nasty.

One should always do heavy investigation before deciding on taking any RC,
my bad Sekio :P
