Also has the worst, most unforgiving withdrawals of any opiate I've tried. I've heard others say similar things about pod tea. I still prefer the opium stone to heroin, but heroin is far more functional...

Wouldn't know, never had enough opium to withdraw from.. but I kind of find that in some respects withdrawals from the weaker opiates/opioids can 'seem' subjectively worse and more protracted than heroin, not because they actually are, but because paradoxically the less ill you are, the more you are aware of it. In a way, full on Heroin WD's cause a sort of dissociative, out of body state where you are not capable of gauging how ill you are because it's so intense that you become detached to a certain extent. Also, when you do start to recover, even a slight improvement can afford immense relief compared to what you were suffering before. Whereas a 'milder' addiction leaves you fully aware of the misery you are in and in some ways can appear to be worse and last much longer because the relief of recovery is much less intense. Does this make sense at all?

I can attest that opium withdrawals are fucking brutal!! I did a week lo g 10g binge and it destroyed me! Had the worst flu vomiting both ends lol restless legs, inability o sleep, it was brutal, way worse than an oxy withdrawal thats for sure! And yeah it's difficult to maintain a small habit, it's pretty much all or nothing, this opium is from India, it's quite fresh compared to previous batches, it is very gummy and sticky, dark brown and sorta transparent amber when held against light, I ate about a gram today but I do have quite a tolerance.

Makes perfect sense. In fact that's the state I'm in right now, after a month of 3x a week use and then a final 4-day binge to finish the lot (heroin, that is). It's not a crippling WD where I can just lie in bed all day and want to die and feel sorry for myself, I feel functional enough to get shit done, I just don't like doing any of it and feel a bit sick all the time. Like a severe flu/mild cold comparison really... Tramadol has been a godsend because the SNRI properties give me the get-up-and-go needed to go and get shit done during the day, and it takes the brunt off the crawling-skin feeling. I'd forgotten what it was like, counting down days till you know your WD is over... :/

But trust me, and I'm not dick-sizing, opium withdrawals are absolutely fucking brutal, in every sense of the word. Although I'm in the opposite boat as you; I've never had enough heroin to go through proper, full-blown WDs on it, so I can't really compare, nor do I want to!
But it does need to be treated with a lot of caution, particularly because chipping with opium doesn't work; you need at least 10 days between doses because it lingers in your system for 2-3 days (WDs typically kick in on 3/4th day off it, if you're WDing on the first day off/wake up WDing, you know you're in for one fucking tough month).

[EDIT] I also have to agree with Brimz. Proper opium, sourced from the right placed and cured in the right way, is very potent. 0.1-0.2g for a first-timer is enough for a 6-8 hour nod. Again, not dick-sizing.

bcf, do you happen to know what country your O came from? is it cured (rock-hard) or fresh, or somewhere in-between? What colour is it? More on the grey side, the green side, or black/brown...?

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to dismiss opium as a weak opiate at all. Addiction is addiction as far as I'm concerned, and whatever the opiate concerned, the withdrawals are fucking brutal! I can't really comment on opium because it's something I've only had the pleasure of a couple of times, and no doubt proper refined opium is probably a damn sight more potent than much of the 'heroin' available in this country at the moment. But there's no denying that weight for weight, opium is much less potent than proper diacetylmorphine hydrochloride, and full on IV heroin WD's take some beating.

Sounds like fun BCF! You lucky thing! I've never had opium but I'd love to try it! Would you get much of a buzz from eating 1gram? Is it better to eat it, smoke it in a pipe or chase it on foil? I'd have to leave at least a 24hours gap after taking my methadone if I was gonna take opium, thats what I do when I use gear.

I was away working to-day so Mr. Ructions scored some gear this morning. Things have really gone down hill in Dublin lately, we've had no luck at all! But the stuff that we got to-day has to be the worst that we have got in a long time. He got a half eight, you wanna see the size of it, its huge!!! A mate of mine has my scales at the moment so I can't weigh it, but it honestly looks more like an 8th then a half 8th! But the quality is really really bad!

The guy that I got it off is a really nice bloke, he'd always looks after his punters. When Mr. Ructions picked it up the guy said that the first line burns a bit black, but its fine after that, he said that it is really strong. So I reckon the reason that he gave us such a big deal is coz it all just burns up in the first few lines. Its very weak, I'd be surprised if there is even 5% heroin in it! I told Mr. Ructions not to score till I got home, I've heard that there is much better gear in South Dublin at the moment, its obviously not pre-drought quality, but I have been told by a very reliable source that its the best around!

The gear that we have here is so bad that I don't think I'll even bother smoking it, now I normally smoke the gear get no matter what its like, but its just so bad! After the black stuff burns off it turns really weird, there is hardly any smoke coming off it, after smoking a line I'm just blowing out fresh air. I hoping to score over the south side tomorrow, although part of me is just sick of wasting money on drought gear.....

I just been reading that a guy in Oxford has been put in hospital due to heroin contaminated with anthrax.
These cases keep showing up every now and again around the country and in europe also.

The official line is that it's probably coming from the goat(?)skin bags in which the drug is packed for transport.

My first thought was, if someone was going to contaminate a batch of gear deliberately, there are much more interesting things to use than anthrax. My second thought was, they would be sacrificing all plausible deniability; you don't get many radioactive isotopes just lying around dope-exporting third-world countries.

Interesting thought, though; that somebody wants someone who scores in the same places you do, dead.

Jesus christ... Somebody in OD wrote a thread about this a few weeks ago as well (or it might have been here, can't remember). But is it done on purpose, or what? How on Earth does anthrax get into heroin?

[Edit] On the topic of nasty cuts, I remember reading a while back that in some parts of the States, heroin is sometimes cut with rat poison to produce a histamine release and this simulate the "burn" of very good heroin. Unfortunately I can't remember the source so I can't evaluate if it's bullshit or not.

Thankfully now if I score I get pure H, or if it's cut it's cut with insoluble contaminants (and even then never below 80% ), looking back I could never go back to shooting something that is 80-90% god-knows-what. Jesus...

i score from hope house hostel in glasgow,and i can remember about two years ago when the anthrax hit hard,quite a few folk died in the hostel,and overall i think about 17 people died in the east end of glasgow,most of em all on a small housing estate,where the contaminated batch was being sold.the anthrax comes from the goat skins that the heroin is originally put in,it occurs naturally,something to do with rotten flesh.
it was pure scary as well cos folk were getting rushed to hospital every day and die'ing,but of course we all still went out and scored everyday,duh!lol

And, being depleted (i.e., having had most of the radioactive stuff pulled out to make nuclear fuel), not very radioactive. Think, in and out of your system before you could register as many counts as you'd get dialling abroad on a Trimphone.
