I live in the sticks myself mate , and yeah its dead round here.
We have been very, very lucky though and been inwork pritty much all the time, only shiter being all our works in London. Hour & half each way , I leave home at 5am.
We start early, finish early I'm home by half 3, or 4.
But were always busy , no site work, they can stick health& safety up there arse.
We do extensions, loft conversions new builds and do everything ourselfs apart from the plumbing and electrics.
To be honest , I fucking love my job / workmates, so on a whole it's all good mate.
When I lived in San Jose which along with its suburbs comprises the silicon valley (I say this b/c some Californians don't realize this- However Europeans probably know more about our georgraphy than we do.) Anyway, I used to drive 1 hour each way to San Francisco to hook up gear on the street. Then we foound that our dea;er was closer so it was only like 30-40 minutes.
Anyway, like I've often said dope fiends often cross the border into Tijuana to get gear which is litteraly right across the border- the city smashes up against the new border fence that is looking like the Berlin wall or literally an iron curtain democracy to fascism as one person pointed out (which I believe is a good documentary.) Anyway, it used to be until 2007 or 2008 that you would walk across and then say "I'm an American" and i you looked the part and spoke without an accent they would let you through (as long as you were from a non latin American background they would tend to let you through but I had a Aussie friend get deported because his Visa expired and he went down to Baja to surf- he had been here for a couple of years- a recovering heroin addict from sidney,
But Runctions, you mention needing a passport to go to the UK, and thats how it used to be. In 86' during the cold war you would go through a border leaving a country and one or two entering. On driving through hungary we went through 3. The polite Hungarians were very hospitable- the Austrians back then had our car impounded because the Greek authorities gave us a stack of papers except for the legal title- all in Greek just to fck with US B/C we were Americans. The only other person having trouble was an older guy with a cowboy hat in a big cadillac with Texas plates- we were at the border for 8 hours and he was still there when we got on the flat bed truck heading for Vienna. But I digress. Now you need a passport to get back into the US- the mexicans don't have customs as you walk in and won't check your car generally (know they are starting to in order to look for firearms- the possession of or especially smuggling of a huge crime.
Was it Kat or Zara that talked about smoking and burning your mouth- with me it was the tongue that I brned most but this last crystal run almost 3 years ago I burned my lips and fingers on the pizzel (tweak pipe for smoking crystal meth) an got some gnarly blisters.
It sounds like the gear situation is improving- compared to a month or 2 ago you here much better accounts. It might not be a deluge bringing the water tables back to normal but a slow trickle that increases with time. I think the supplies' there but people are profiteering- wonder were that load in Bulgaria was heading too. Also wonder if the chunnel fascilitated gear distribution into Great Britain.
The 550 kg bust or whatever it was Zara- I think you can look at it positively as an indicator of more gear comming in. The DTOs use a formula that say 1/10 loads on average will be intercepted and they use a shotgun appraoch and their prices are bumped up to cover the predictable loss, which fluctuates by the trend normalizes over time either supply up ward or down ward- like the stocks traded at exchanges around the world.
Anyway, in this country they can have all your self phone numbers and the people connected to those phones if that information is listed or not- they have powerful tricks. There is an agency called the NSA that can pick up your signal and then run it through there super computers. They can do this thanks to the treasonous PATRIOT act which was just extended. I'm sure they would glasly share that info with the Garda, Scotland Yard, ect...
By the way, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are here in California after their trip to Canada. But what irks me is that of all the parts of this state- and you have everything from desert, to mountains of sequoia, and big red woods in Northern CA by the coast, and inland next to guerilla grow ops in Humboldt and Mendocino counties (the bordeaux of cannabis), the wine country of Napa and Sanoma, lake Tahoe and Death Valley, Mount Shasta and the beautiful coastal towns of the montery bay area and of course big sur. So much beauty and they had to pick Los Angeles. The ugliest city in CA, The other 22 million of us whish it would fall in the ocean. Good to Epic surf up and down the coast but Willie don't surf. I know his buddy beckam lives there and that city is full of A-list celebreties, ect...But the good news is that he went to the Beach suburb of Santa Monica and that place has a fair share of cannabis dispensaries out in the open, especially Venice Beach just to the south- you walk in to a doctors office- they have them on the Boardwalk (like every other mini storefront- and 15 minutes and $40.00 latter you have a cannabis card. I was there a couple weeks ago and you would have to be blind not to see a dispensary or not know what 420 means or a rasta on a store wall smoking a joint.
But anyway, the william and Kate could have visited San Diego if they wanted the big city beach vibe, or the beach towns in Orange county. I can't believe they didn't take a day or two to hang out and chill in San Francisco- the most Beautiful city in the US (and in my biased opinion, the world). The would have had decent whether- usually cold and foggy june-sep. Some cities have a good natural setting others are beautiful architecturally. San Francisco blends both- the hills, victorian architecture and impecable civic planning that the Great Earth quake allowed the City to be rebuilt as a show case for Beaux arts, dense urbanization with many parks, nature preserves, diverse and wordly population, 2 cool bridges, the Napa valley close by and each town has its own personality in the bay area, the most beautiful coastine in the world is the Big Sur Coastline south of San Francisco- utterly spectacular...anyway I think they missed out. But I guess they wanted to get a unique cultural experience so they visited the capital of shallow, fake, self-absorbed, though admittedly attractive people.
Or they could have gone to Hawaii- the crown owns some property, sovereign british soil on the Big Island of Hawaii were the Captain cook memorial stands. The Queen of Hawaii deeded the land to the UK before anexation. But if they were comming for a trip to the US, thats were I would go, a few days in San Francisco and a few weeks in the Hawaiian Islands- but they have to earn their keep. William could have made an excuse that he was goind to the USMC air station on the East Shore of Oahu for special helicopter training and take week long breaks in different Islands in between training evolutions.
When I was living in the Silicon Valley in the late 90s my company had a drawing to go to a fundraising dinner were Margie Thatcher was speaking. I didn't win- would have been interesting- aparently the majority of her dinner speach was about how she and Ronnie (Reagan) made the world safe for democracy. I get the feeling that she probably doesn't possess many qualities that would endear her to many of the regulars on this forum. I think one of her famous lines was "the only problem with socialism is that you run out of other peoples money." The sense I get is that the working and destitute suffered under her tenure and the middle class didn't make out too well but the rich and artistocratic classes made out fabulously- those were tough times for the UK (I may be mistaken). In the USA, they were good times for most people so long as you had a job, otherwise alot of programs for the poor were cut. As governor of CA in the 60s he let alot of the psychiatric patients out of state hospitals and the homeless problem soared.
At any rate they were both great in one respect- they did more to develop and inspire punk rock music than anyone.
How I went from scoring in San Francisco to Thatcher, Ronnie and punk I don't know.8)

Its 6 AM- couldn't sleep tonight- took sub and it kept waking me up.
ps. yesterday morning going to work I heard that the corner released that in 2010 in San diego county heroin was the #1 cause of overdose deaths. See they reformulated oxy, heroin moved in to take over the market share and people used to oxy probably were not as adept at gauging the dose. There is more chippers. I think its getting more social acceptability- time for more harm reduction it will save the state money- give methadone Rx instead of relying on clinics that are costly- low threshold and maybe dilaudid maintenace for some. Sub works 4 me.
Pinky the heroin cigaretes sound cool. Wonder what they will mix them with- tobacco, something innert? I've talked to people from the Aussie board and over there crystal meth is big- its expensive and its considered a status drug. But heroin is looked down on to the point that heroin discussion is discouraged- when I learned of the Euro drought in january, I started a thread asking if there was a heroin drought over there and is it #3 or #4 (from Burma). My thread was shut down because it was considered sourcing. Though I explained I wasn't looking for hook ups b/c won't be going there just wanted to know what the scene was like and if they were getting hit by the drought- it turns out no- but heroin is highly stigmatized which is funny b/c many heroin addicts here stigmatize tweakers- they're associated with trailer trash and bikers- it was around only its use dropped off alot after the drought in I think 2000. But there is a fair amount of SE Asian #4 in the markets going around- its just its a tighter scene and there is few open air markets for the drug. In the UK, in contrast to even the US many people on this thread have jobs even in this tight job market and there are alot of women- this shows greater acceptance and users from a more diverse strata of society.
