Reducing tolerance to morphine IR

Is it possible to reduce tolerance by just cutting back the dosage. The morphine is treating chronic pain.
 
Yes that will reduce you tolerance but depending on how much you're cutting back and how high your tolerance is it may or may not be noticable.
