Opioids red bump after trying to hit the same spot a few times

I just injected a 30mg roxy, and i tried to hit the same spot a few times. I finally registered and got it correctly, but since i tried to hit the same spot a few times there is now a small red bump surrounding the different entry sites that i tried. Do you guys think i should be worried about this? it doesnt look white like i missed and skin popped, and its not really tender at all, just a little red. How long should i wait for it to go down and get better before i should be worried. I guess a better way to ask this is how long should i expect this to go down, and if it doesnt in this time period, should i be worried? I know that i hit the vein as it registered the dark red blood we all know is the money shot, so i dont think i should be too worried. I used a clean needle, alcohol swabs, and scrubbed the site with soap afterwords. Just let me know if you think its anything serious

I feel fine right now, as well, which is also why im not that worried. Anyone else experienced this when trying to hit the same spot a few times in a row?

Only bumping this as an update, its turned more purple than red, the swelling has gone down, and it is no longer tender to the touch. seems like just a little bruising from hitting the same spot like four times in about five minutes before i registered. Lemme know what anyone thinks, but i think im all in the clear.

It's most likely just some bruising. But hey, you should really switch your needles up. By the fourth or fifth shot, that needle is dull as all hell and really fucks up your veins. Not saying I haven't done it, but it's better to learn from the mistakes of others...

When you say switch your needles up, do you mean every time you re-enter your skin, or everytime you prepare a new fixup or couple of bags. Because i switch up my needle everytime i prep a new shot, but i dont switch my needle up if i were to miss, pull out, re enter, miss again, pull out, re enter, and finally hit, however many times I do that.

Obviously ideally you'd use a new needle everytime you re enter your skin, is this what you meant though? It seems unrealistic, un cost effective, and the risk not high enough for me to squirt my solution back into the spoon and use a new needle everytime i miss a vein and pull out. What do you think?

I think your right about it just being some bruising, it doesnt hurt at all and is already better than it was last night. I wont be touching that spot for a while.

Switch it every time, no matter what, the needle will dull after 3 or 4 uses or less and that= damage

You also shouldn't be hitting the same spot. Ideally you'd want a different vein but you can also move up the vein a few times if you don't have any other viable ones.

Try switching to a smaller gauge as well.

I meant you should switch up every time you poke yourself. Ideally, you should only need to poke yourself once to get in the vein. It might seem like a waste but trust me man, in the long run it's well worth it to save your veins. Blunt needles can really fuck your shit up. I've seen some of my friends' veins and it isn't a pretty sight.

Aren't rigs free in New York? Don't you guys have a needle exchange?

It's a small hemorrhage, blood from the vein must have gone under your skin. Actually, you could get this if a nurse taking your blood does it improperly or you don't apply pressure right after putting the needle out of your vein. And like written above, you should switch spots if you inject that often...

Well i dont actually live in new york, i live in nassau county. So packs of ten 1cc 30 gauge long needles, which is what i use, cost about three dollars (im not really worried about three bucks for ten needles). Plus, i really only inject twice a day maximum, as im not THAT addicted to it. Id like to keep it that way, but as most IV users know, this is kinda impossible if using every day. My cousin, sadly enough, sometimes injects about 30cc's of water when he cant get dope just because he has such a needle fixation. kinda sad, but it is what it is.

Yes, it's kind of impossible but it's not impossible. I've seen my friends totally switching from i.v. use of morphine and heroin to methadone or buprenorphine (depending on the length of addiction and preference) after quite long daily addiction to shooting up. I could give you a few examples of people including myself who shot up for more than 4 years and these are people from the same circle having access to morphine sulfate in ampules dirt-cheap and now totally abstain from injecting. It's hard to get on the maintenance program here, only one person I know very close managed to be accepted as a special favor...

It's really a matter of becoming aware how destructive this addiction is for you to give up injecting. I'd shot up for 5 years and 6 months before I switched to buprenorphine, I had a few moments when I couldn't stand how it didn't help me and I got through it with 3-MF but then I've switched to methadone and I've been on it since and I haven't shot up a single time although I had moments of weakness and was thinking of doing morphine but it's like a surge, it comes and it goes away. Really, it wasn't piece of cake psychologically to get off shooting up eventually as I shot up 160mg of morphine / 40mg of levorphanol before the switch. And during the hardest part of my addiction I could inject even 6 times a day still going to school, so this means I sometimes did 2-3 shots at school, I ended up on a skid row but thanks to people who've supported me I managed getting out of this shit.

Sorry if this is too much off-topic but I guess it still matches a thread dealing with complications after injecting "hard" drugs.
