So I partially missed a shot 2 days ago and immediately removed the needle. I am going to the ER tomorrow but I just wanted some thoughts on what could possibly be wrong. Its a little puffy with a large very slightly red area and SORE. Ive missed shots before, done the hot n cold n elevation. Did all that this time too but it doesnt seem to be getting better so I AM GOING to the doctor before you all jump all over me. I just would like to know what to expect to hear from the doc... i.e. infection, tear of the vein, etc??? Thanks guys

man, dont be one of those people that dont want to go to the doctor for fear of what they will say, if you think its worth getting someones opinion who knows what to do to help you... just do it. a forum like this will give you very mixed opinions on peoples own experiences, but the truth is, the doctor can tell you what is going with on with YOU and they dont judge... too much.

if your old enough to take drugs, your old enough to take responsibility for what happens. even if you had aids localized entirely in that red painful spot (you dont, it doesnt work like that but you get what im saying) life will go on... just think about the fact that no matter how much you read on here, the pain wont go away. there is no point to stress about things you cant control. plus you get to go have a coffee on the way.

Nobody can tell you exactly what the doctor will say, as we don't know the specifics about your condition. I would expect the word infection to be used though, and you will most likely be prescribed antibiotics.

Injected heroin. Did not micron filter. No fever, feel normal. It is the basilic vein. Its slightly swollen n marginally red. Very sore as expected. As I said in the original OP I AM going the the doctor tomorrow, have work in an hour or I'd go today. I been IVing H for close to 3 yrs n have been lucky enough to not get one abscess or ever have to make an ER trip so Im just curious as to what I'll likely hear from the doc. Thanks again.

Im not one of those people who's afraid of what some doctors going to say about me because I could really careless. I am going to the doctor so please stop telling me to do so. TY

good luck, yes sorry i was a bit nana like then, this isnt a forum for STD's for kids and im sure you know how to look after yourself because thats the first thing you learn when you make a habbit of not looking after yourself. i just want to stress that its not really a topic that can be handled on here. what you can epect at the doctors??? waiting on a chair for ages in a lobby of sorts, maybe a kid running around with his\her mother saying "stop that" or "get over here and sit down" a receptionist who doesnt really like their job, and takes it out on you by looking down on you when you walk in there, and a tv that playes day time soaps with the volume muted. you could also expect to see a few magazines that dont really say much of interest and then you should expect to read all the signs around the room with things like "quit smoking? call this number" "have you had your flu shot"
