Not sure if this is the correct place, but it is a health issue.

I have been having very wierd symptoms recently whenever I do certain drugs. I should say firstly that it started to happen after I overindulged majorly with mephedrone over the course of a week or so and ended up with very odd symptoms and a breif trip to hospital. I've learnt my lesson now, the hard way.

I wont go into all the details, but essentially what happened on the night was my knees turned purple, my elbows turned red/purple with odd pimply spots on them, and my hands and knuckles turned red and then later a light bluey color and I felt a large pressure in my head all night, but at the same time very lightheaded when I stood up. Very odd symptoms. My feet were fine, implying it was not vasoconstriction, but something auto-immune related that seemed focussed around my joints. After a day or so this color subsided and I returned to normal.

The thing is that now, three months after this happened, these symptoms seem to return (albeit to a lesser extent) to me whenever I use certain drugs. Ones that set it off again so far are BZP/TFMPP, Ketamine, Methylone and MDMA. Ones that seem not to are nicoteine, alcohol, tianeptine, DMT, salvia and weed. I am currently looking at my elbows which are covered in red pimply rashes having done some BZP/TFMPP yesterday, and last night my knees were dark purple, and my fingers had a red like color to them and a stiff feeling.

Anyone have any idea what may be causing these symptoms? Any ideas on any action I should take to either prevent it happening or to find out what it may be?

I've been to the doctor once and he wasn't sure what it was. He just said quit smoking and come back if there are any more problems, which I will do in the near future as it doesn't seem to be going away.

you might have an allergy?
i don't know much about chemicals/chemistry with drugs so i can't really say but that's what it may be.
it also make be a mental thing. i have a friend who used to use x constantly and one night while we were out he started freaking out because he said he was having major hot flashes that didn't feel normal. we took him to the hospital a couple hours later and he was near od (had mixed a ton of stuff). he didn't use x for about nine months later, used again and started claiming the same thing.
he'll use every once and a while and it's always the same thing. there's nothing wrong with him at first, but then he starts freaking out about how he's convinced that he's having these hot flashes and his body is overheating. from being with him i taking his temp/to the hospital/touching him i can say that he'll be fine until he suddenly decides these symptoms are occuring and then his body temp rises. kind of like a panic attack i guess. if you get it into your brain that certain things are going to happen to your body, your mind IS strong enough to cause those physical symptoms or at least make you feel like they are very real.
my advice: stay away from those drugs. :)

I have thought it may be a mental thing, but the fact that some drugs tend to give these symptoms and some dont tells me there is something more going on. And each time what happens is so specific it seems very unlikely to me. I'm sure it is related to my immune system. Maybe I just need to give my body a break from all drugs and chill out. But whats the fun in that? :)

I've still never seen any one get symptoms like this. My knees honestly look like they are covered in a huge blotchy bruise. I will take a picture next time and upload it here so any experts can give a diagnosis, since my doctor seems fairly clueless.

No, not really. Its very hard to tell him everything, as he knows my family so i had to tiptoe around the truth. I Just told him that I have occasionally use drugs at parties, and obviously I did tell him about the mephedrone incident that seemed to spark this off.

I may ask to see another doctor and just tell all.

And I have another to add to my list, Kratom. Just had a kratom tea of 6g premium GVI and after two hours my knees are purpler than a smurf thats overdosed on ribena. I think that I'll do the same tomorrow, and then go and see the doc with my knees in their full purple glory and see what he says.

honestly man, it sounds like you may need to take it easy.

if you're body is reacting to that many drugs, i'd take it as an warning system. you had these symptoms once before when you were overusing a stimulant, and what you describe would seem to have something to do with circulation. then again it may be something completely different...

...maybe cut back to smokin the grass for awhile if you have to have something.

good luck

^yeah, it sounds like you're have some problems with circulation. i'm very pale and my legs are pretty purple and red right (especially the knee caps) now from stimulants i took earlier.
however, if you do have a medical condition that's been caused by drugs your doctor isn't going to be able to diagnose you or even come up with possibly solutions because he isn't going to know what drugs your on. so i would suggest switching up to another doctor if you want to get down to the bottom of this, but honestly, the easiest thing is probably to just stay away from the drugs that do this to your body. :)

I noticed that all of the ones that give me the symptoms are ones that raise your blood pressure considerably, ones that effect it moderately dont do anything, and when I smoke weed or salvia I tend to notice the opposite that my symptoms get better. dunno why, i'm no expert.
