Hi. This is my first post, I know, but I have to ask. I managed to get a decent sample of ketamine that was mixed with an oily substance. The problem is separating it from the oil. THe oil is solid at room temp, but if heat is applied, then the ketamine goes to the bottom of the beaker, to which I proceed to filter via a 50 micron nylon mesh. I am still left with Ketamine and some oil. I sigured that since K is soluble in water, just adding warm DI water would dissolve the K and leave the oil behind. THe proble is, the K is not dissolving at all! It forms a precipitate at the bottom of the beaker and it does not dissolve at all. There are minute ammounts of oil still present in the water wit the K, but it does not forma clear division between water an oil, to a point where I could just use a separation funnell and be done with it. I am frustrated beying belief on trying to fix this.
I noticed that is I apply too much heat to the paste/k mixture, it forms a solution. Once you let it cool down, the K crystals form at the bottom, but there is stil K dissolved in the oil, I know caue I tasted it and got a tad high a few hours after it. I have repeated the process to no avail, with no success on diluting the K in the warm DI water.
I figure I was not using enough water to dissolve the ammount of K, but I habve used plenty for it to work. My guess is that the K is till slightly mixed with the oil, but even if I boil the water/k/oil/solution, no clear separation form.
I'm thinking I got K Base, and not K HCl, but then again, why wuold I get slighlty high by just tasting it. I feel a tad bit drunk, as I had 4 beers, ver relaxed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
