i've always wondered on here why people post what they buy. Just baffles me I guess. Ya'd never catch me posting what I've bought. I don't want others to trainspot off me.. Very Cliche!

Makes me wonder if mebbe the ones who post em up, just copy cat each other, or..... more likely... have no taste themselves on what is good, then just ask everyone their weekly purchaces and then buy em themselves.

not trying to start a drama thing here, but mebbe y'all should think before you post...

today's food for thought ;)

I think people post (well this is why i do it) just so that people have a fair idea of what you play. Think about what you buy... unless you but only white label gear, there are going to be at least 1000-5000 copies of what you buy circulating around.

I picked up a record that i thought was mad and a friend bagged the shit out of it... doesnt bother me. I enjoy it and its a cool track to play with... what happens 2 weeks later? Shop gets a new shipment in which the track i got was restocked. said friend now says ill get it.

What ever tracks you have, others have them too. I post here to see if there are any other people buying what i am... I mean i know there must be cos the record shop gets about 30 in, then a week later they are all gone... I think you should post what you get so we can see if your not 'trainspotting' off others? ;) Living in australia, im not sure if we get records before or after the US, but occasionally i see one or 2 tracks that i got a week or 2 back, or saw in the shop, posted up here.

time to end the rant, unless everyone shops at the same shop... chances are there are going to be several very different lists. Also this thread starts disscussion about certain tracks, which i reckon is healthy. ah well... thats all i have to say.

Oh and only one new purchase - Do you know it? - Kan Cold (one half of Hennes + Cold) on Druck.

it's kewl.... i just personally won't post up my shit. But, i also don't play house/trance, which seems what most of ya post up on here... So, to me, it's pointless... lol..

And yea, i see your point, but at the same time, i just don't agree...

all good tho..

i can understand where you're coming from. but i look at it this way:

I'm a house, tribal, prog tech house buyer for my local record store. Even though I hear a great deal of what's coming out and when there are still somethings that i'll inevitably miss something quality - just because we can't buy each release from nemesis and watts. going by what other DJs buy, you learn about new labels you may want to keep your eye on or artists / producers. There have been several times where i've gone to check out one of the records that someone has reccomended here - i might not always purchase it, but it keeps me listening to more and more music and helps when i'm in a west coast house mood or looking for more of a techno sound or breaks or whatever.

I think it's great that people post what they purchase for the fact that i may have skipped over a record because i didn't have time or just didn't see it, but i see it and will give it a listen the next time i'm there.

I listen to my music before i buy it. After its bought i look at what other people buy, to me its gotta sound good not to somebody else. Sometimes i see something that i had planned to buy when it was released here then i go check it out at the record store. Spending $100s isnt something im going to waste on copycating.

I own/run a record store...

It's nice to see what others are getting. I may catch some releases being bought that I may have missed on the distributor lists...it's helpful. As well I like to see what styles people are playing...it's interesting..

I post mine cause I like to let others know where my style goes and to maybe give some others some heads up on upcoming stuff since I get a fair amount of un-released promos...

No matter how special you think you record is...and that they won't know what you are playing. There is atleast 500-1000 people out there that have the same thing. It's no big deal..it's music. And a DJ should take heart in the fact that they are the only form of broadcast for many underground releases that people aren't going to hear on the radio.

So if someone comes up and wants to know what I played, or am playing...HELL YEAH I'm going to tell them...educate and help the producers get their dues. Don't be selfish.
