Yeah in retrospect maybe there was a little bit too much action shootouts. Still an absolute classic though. Been ages since I enjoyed watching a film as much as that.

I might give inception a try. This thread is the only place i have seen it mentioned, never seen a trailer or anything, so ive got no expectations

it's probably been this years most hyped film...

Do you not have a tele, friends, radio, eyes or ears?

I hate watching Tv, my friends know fuck all about films so i never talk about films to them and havnt listened to the radio for about a decade.

I do have eyes and ears tho.

aye it was good and i could watch it again but i felt a little let down by it, i wanted more mindfuck less generic action movie shootouts
Thats kind of what I thought about the Matrix in '99......although they were somewhat less generic.
Chris Nolan wants to direct a Bond film, it was pretty much his audition and pastiche....hello OHMSS!
Nothing compared to Memento. I think he should do a Steven Soderbergh and alternate between big budget and small budget.
PS Sex, Lies and Videotape has been one of my favourite films since about 92.

You did a pretty good job of not seeing or hearing anything about this, are they painted on?

Anyone else felt a bit like Inception reminded them of The Matrix (the first one) ? It seems to be a bit about the same idea, that the world around us is not real, altough the alternatives are quite different.

another movie (perhaps already mentioned): district 9
actiony, interesting ideas... anyone?

Bah, tried to download Inception but every version I've found is riddled with computer AIDS.

Guess the moral of the story is piracy is wack :\

I think you need to go to the cinema to really appreciate this film.

I watched this last night and loved it. It touched me so much it made me cry, actually it made me bawl like a baby! I didn't realise it had Queen Latifah or Alicia keys in it before I watched it, but the cast worked well. I also didn't realise it was a novel, I wish i'd read it first!

set in South Carolina in 1964, this is the tale of Lily Owens a 14 year-old girl who is haunted by the memory of her late mother. To escape her lonely life and troubled relationship with her father, Lily flees with Rosaleen, her caregiver and only friend, to a South Carolina town that holds the secret to her mother's past. Taken in by the intelligent and independent Boatwright sisters, Lily finds solace in their mesmerizing world of beekeeping.

Sort of and the 13th floor and existenz, all '99 and all good in their own ways. Although the 13th floor was originally a german book, filmed for the tv by Rainer Werner Fassbinder called Welt am Draht (1973) (World on Wires). Which is now available somewhere near you, legally or otherwise and I am going to watch it at some point as its compared to Alphaville, another worthwhile futurist film.

Unfortunately he had to chop lots out of Cruising and supposedly its like an hours worth of lost footage.
I love Bug. You can read it different ways, but its supposed to be about one person spreading their psychosis onto another, but many have seen it as an allegory of drug psychosis. I recommend watching it back to back with Cookers, which I have recommended almost as much as Crank....which was on TV again a few weeks back.
Need to watch Crank 2 again as its funny beyond words, everything about it is fucking insane.:D

I want to watch Gamer, that Neveldine and Taylor also made. They were supposed to be making a really fucked version of Jonah Hex, but it got done over by everyone and the end result is supposed to be the worst film this year!

I get sort of obsessed about films that have been cut down at some point and then the footage lost. Obviously its fucking somewhere. They found the full cut of Metropolis, which is still somewhere in the ether. Ultimate win would be the original 4 hour cut of Blue Velvet, cos I have to know how they lost half a film. Or the monster long cut of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with me....which isn't lost, but legal wrangles mean it looks to be kept under wraps for ever.:|

No idea what Gamer is but if you didn't like it then it's probably a classic. :p

^^^ Hahaha... best laugh so far today. It's been too long a day without a good laugh. Thank you.

BUG is a great movie. I love it. I would imagine any drug-using fan of psychological thrills would love it also.
