I would actually recommend you watch Preditors. Although the last Alien vs Preditor films have been shyte, this one sort of reminds me of the orignal, much better than all of the other Preditor films, minus the first one.

I can handle it, that doesn't mean I'd actually want to watch someone slicing their fanny apart though. Gore's good if it's necessary to fit the storyline, Antichrist seems to me like the storyline is there to fit the gore/violence & not the other way around. Lazy shite film making imo. I might be wrong but I'll probably never get round to finding out. It just makes me think the same as that human centipede film that's out, they've fired all this mocket shit in it to get cunts to watch it.

I can understand hesitating to watch anything by Von Trier and just cringing at the thought of Film students waxing poetic about eveything he does. It does reek of pretentious bullshit a mile off. I read all the reviews of The Idiots, watched it, and was like so....that's it?

I did like the idea of people acting retarded and how that's like...i dunno the ultimate fuck off to the world, but it got a little esoteric and it felt like the last 20 minutes were written by a legitimate retard.

Antichrist though...that shit will fucking haunt your dreams, and Willem Dafoe's character actually mocks psychotherapy and all that bullshit and basically points out that you can't just read 80 books and fix someone's fucked up mind with magic words. Charlotte Gainsbourg's character is just like a fucking caged beast let loose with no sense of what's moral or right in society or interacting with other people, she just devolves into being 100% base human emotion, gloriously violent sexual animal lust and all.

It is neccessary to the story, that's the point. It's not just some pointless gorefest. I don't know how you can make so many judgements and assumptions on something you've never seen. It's a really well shot film, totally beautiful, with a really gripping and intriguing storyline that just happens to have loads of gore and fucked up scenes.

You just seem to have something against the fact theres genital mutilation in it, you were whinging on about it when it first came out and we talked about it on here, you're still whinging on about it now yet you've not even seen it. Go watch it already so you can actually back up your criticisim. Is it because it's female genitals, what with your love for your mates cocks that's putting you off?

listen up you schoolboys, the toy story trilogy is one of the greatest achievements of recent cinema anyone who sneers at it is lacks any sort of Sensitivity or perception and gs singularly unqualifed to judge any artistic endeavour,
 
Nah the Toy Story series is alright for a family friendly sets of film and is very well made but it's hardly Inception is it.
 
9th company, Russia in Afghanistan, based on a true story, it's every bit as good as stuff like full metal jacket or platoon. Well worth watching

City of God. another based on true events in the favela's of Rio, follows the lives of gangsters. I could write loads about it, but i cant be arsed, it's an amazing movie though.
 
City of God is a firm favourite round here. City of Men the follow up is quite decent too. Other Brazilian films worth watching are Lower City, Elite Squad, Carandiru, Central Station.
 
I really should watch City of God -- I did start watching it one time when I was at uni but but I was far too ruined to follow a subtitled foreign-language film -- keep meaning to grab myself a copy and do it justice.
 
I watched that for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It's a great film.

City of Men wasn't up to its standards (still decent enough though).
 
The Wave is great! Based on true story too, cept it happened in California and not Germany.

Great rolling on the floor laughing movie is , FOUR ROOMS. its a classic, the last scene is written by quentin tarintino and is hilarious. actors include, Tim roth, antonio benderas and quentin tarintino. Check it out people , its freaking funny.
