oh just remembered an actually good horror film that came out recently.. seriously horror fans check out Trick r Treat. Really original for a modern horror, its excellent in my opinion.. only got shown in a few cinemas, but a fairly low quality copy can be watched at that site I posted

trick-r-treat.jpg

The film is an anthology of four Halloween-related scary stories. One thing that ties the stories together is the presence of Sam, a mysterious pint-sized trick-or-treater with a burlap pumpkin mask, who makes an appearance in all the stories, as a 'friendly-reminder' to those who break the Halloween traditions.[1]

Nothing is what it seems when a suburban couple learns the dangers of blowing out a jack-o'-lantern before midnight; a terrifying principal (Dylan Baker) who moonlights as a serial killer, teaches one neighbor the true meaning of Halloween; Laurie (Anna Paquin), a young woman dressed as Little Red Riding Hood, is stalked by a mysterious hooded figure at a local Halloween festival; a group of pranksters go too far and discover the horrifying truth buried in a local urban legend of a school bus massacre; and a cantankerous old hermit (Brian Cox), is visited by a strange trick-or-treater with a few bones to pick[2].

Things turn deadly as strange creatures of every variety — human and otherwise — try to survive the scariest night of the year[3].

Despite only a handful of public screenings, the film has been reviewed extensively by online journalists and bloggers, especially in the genre/horror communities, and reviews are nearly unanimously positive. Dread Central gave it five out of five stars and stated "Trick 'r Treat ranks alongside John Carpenter's Halloween as traditional October viewing and I can't imagine a single horror fan that won't fall head over heels in love with it."[7] The film earned a 10 out of 10 from Ryan Rotten of ShockTilYouDrop.com.[8] It also earned an 8 out of 10 from Bloody-Disgusting.com.[9] IGN attended a screening of the film and concluded, "This well-crafted Halloween horror tribute is a scary blast.", rating it a 8/10 overall

The last three movies I've watched are Alien, Usual Suspects and Bladerunner, so I won't bother recommending them ;).

One before that was Can't Stop the Music, a Village People vehicle that is pretty bad but sometimes unintentionally funny.

I love slashers they are my guilty pleasure. I want to watch every one ever made and comment on it and have people read my comments as if they really mattered.

The Burning is ok, its a mid-ranger. I like some characters, theres no end girl, but it fudges the plot by having what is great...the raft massacre.....and then a few minor kills.
I recommend Madman which is a much better film, with the same plot.
Good commentary if anyone bothers with these things but me!
The whole camp ranger who went psycho was the scary story in every camp in the 70's so after Friday the 13th a bunch of films went into production without knowing much about real film making, hoping to get further jobs in the industry for everyone involved and somehow make enough cash to make another film...which was REALLY FUCKING EASY IN THE WAKE OF F13, anyway halfway through Madman when it was cast location scouts, totally budgeted down to how many pot noodles etc, they find out that this troop of people with a slightly bigger budget, a similar script and a similar release date were going to destroy their chance at glory. SO they fucked with and changed the plot and used all sorts of tricks and somehow its not the same film at all, and is way better. And I love it as I am sick.
Certain films I can go on for too long about:|

nah I know what ya mean, something about slashers intrigue me, I can just keep watching them over and over.. will have to check out Madman :) Think my fave slasher has to be Driller Killer, maybe..

Been meaning to watch The Hills Run Red, a slasher that came out recently and is actually supposed to be good, its all about

A group of young horror fans who go searching for a film that mysteriously vanished years ago but instead find that the demented killer from the movie is real, and he's thrilled to meet fans who will die gruesomely for his art.

you seen it? its on that streaming site along with every other horror

its on that streaming site along with every other horror

I'm 99.99% certain that there's no way on earth they have permission to show all those films so had to go on a murderous rampage of linky killings. Well, one really brutal one anyway. Will put it back if anyone can convince me that they have permission to give away copywrite material but till then it go bye-bye, I'm afraid :(

Great site though =D

ah yeah sorry didn't think about copyright :p considering they have copies filmed in the cinema movies that have only just come out I doubt its 100% legal :D

seriously tho guys check out Trick r Treat

re the totally illegal streaming site....fucking bookmarked it, had to be done its got don't torture a duckling on for fucks sake!

re the long goodbye
Thats the wrong theatrical poster to start with. Its not a comedy in that sense. They had another one made but that flopped, so they made this and it made a bit of dough. I do not have a proper Altman Education.
Mine goes like this
MASH : Overrated when I saw it and did my head in compared to series, but would probably think it genius now.
The Long Goodbye - seen numerous times absolutely love it, everyone I have forced it on hates everything about it....people know nothing.
Nashville - Amazing, but not seen since 1995 or something, really need to own it.
The Player - would depend on mood as its either so far up its own arse it can see its teeth or it is the genius play showing hollywood eating itself for dinner and showing its arse whilst doing it
Short Cuts - absolute genius and read the poems and they were changed to perfection and obviously Paul Thomas Anderson must think its the best film ever.
Kansas City - Liked much better than was led to believe, probs because I fancy JJL. But wasn't wank at all.

Give me the hard lowdown then liberal, we already have the women up there which I haven't seen.

RE: Herzog's Bad Lieutenant

it's out and it's shit :(

I completely remove this comment, after giving this a proper viewing I am inclined to say this is a great movie. Bears very little resemblance to the original in tone or style, this has really won me over as a standalone piece, knew I should have had faith in Herzog :).

Sweet. Got them both on the 'puter at the moment and was thinking of watching both cos it's years since I saw the original. May skip that plan and watch them separately to avoid making comparisons. I did find it hard to believe Herzog could fuck up so badly given his remake of Nosferatu - doesn't seem the type to remake something unless he has something worth adding :)

Herzog's take is much more of a dreamy toned dark comedy, I even enjoyed Nic Cage

Dreamy, dark comedy sounds like Herzog. Nick Cage is mostly shit but every now and again he's not so bad. Reminds me a bit of Keanu Reeves - neither are what you'd call actors but in the right film, with the right director, they're perfect.

Saw (500) Days of Summer...yeah, I know, borderline chick flick. But the acting is top-notch, and the story certainly not is candy-coated for soccer moms. Do not take your girl-friend to this movie, imo...mine was second guessing our relationship all friggin week.

8.5/10

This movie will win a few Oscars, maybe Gordon-Levitt(man, has this guy turned into an AMAZING actory) or Zooey Dechanel(sp?)...but probably for best screenplay or something like that.

This

Shameless postwhored for purposes of comedy, quality and more than a smidgen of nostalgia <3

And to prove that Peter Jackson really did know how to make a good film... some considerable time ago.

Hah I had no idea he made anything like that, I was expecting a clip from Braindead (although good/quality may not be entirely appropriate in that case cometothinkofit ) but this is like watching the nightmares of a small child who saw something awful on telly before bedtime, nice link...it makes me want to eat some dxm.

It's a shame how people like him end up being tame and middle of the road the more succcesful they get, Lord of the Rings was just bland forgettable cleb and merchandising vehicle junk I thought . Annoyingly now I can remember seeing loads of decent films from newzealand on telly, late at night years ago, but haven't got a clue what any of them were called. That'll irritate me for ages now :P

I do believe Mr Jackson knows a thing or 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 about making a good film right here, right now. Its just some of us can't be fucked with Lord of the Fucking Cunting Rings, even if it does look exactly the same as in the book.

I need to watch some Bad Taste, that was another film that really got me into the idea of film making. It was partnered on BBC2 one night long ago with its doc Good taste and that, along with many of the things I've picked up from horror film commentaries is why I want to go back in time and get involved in horror productions.

Ahhhhhhh. I am SO sober and clean. Why am I in EADD!

PS Heavenly Creatures for thus far best Jackson film. Though I like his misfire The Frighteners.New one looks a bit good.

I am counting down the time before something medical like goes down my throat.
