I'm looking for some new artists to check out because I'm putting together a video/pic montage of a trip I'm doing. The tune I'm looking for needs to between 7 - 10mins long and tollerable by people who wouldn't be 'the music'. It needs to be uplifting too if possible.

I'm thinking along the lines of Ulrich Schnauss, chilled out LTJ Bukem stuff ... anything ... fire some suggestions at me, tracks or artists. I want to stay away from house, techno and trance.

ha ha great minds think alike, i was just about to suggest something by ltj bukem!!

if you want something along those lines but less obvious then check out PFM - Dannys Song (an ode to danny bukem aka ltj)

its 8 or so mins long (listen to the whole thing tho, theres a bit towards the end where theres this womans vocal going 'oooh oooo ooooh' its fuckin amazing, still makes the hairs on my neck stand up all these years and 1000s of listens later

nice, long, chilled out pieces not too dissimilar to ulrich schnauss :)
 
@lter ego, it's a trip I'm taking from Dublin to Bangkok, using only trains, buses and one boat .. to cross the Irish sea :)
 
^ awesome! that is truly excellent. in that case, check out the asian remix of "the beauty of machines at work" from that album i linked to above. another good one for your epic journey might be "bamboo shadow" by saru. it's on an album called downtempo dojo and is a bit over 8 minutes long: play the track here.
 
My suggestion is this.

Deadmau5, kaskade - I remember (origana mix)

just because the vocals are not forced, or breathy, and the beat is steady and won't take away from what you are presenting, there are many versions of this track, the one on here is about 10min, but you could easily cut it back to 7min.

you should check out the king unique sunspots vocal mix of two months off by underworld.

based on your requirements, it sounds perfect :)

Very beautiful and uplifting. Some of the best music I've ever encountered ^_^

Sora is the Japanese word that means "sky" and also "sol" and "la" of musical scale (do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti).

So, away from house, techno, and trance...

How about something kinda pop/rock-y like Ladytron or Infusion?

More downtempo-y like Massive Attack or Sphongle

Breaks? Look at rogue elements' album "Rogue rock" for some cool tracks ("Calm", "let me breathe")
 
MDMAhead, I still haven't made my mind up yet!! I've been through a lot of music, including virtually everything in the thread. I think the favourite so far though is Ulrich Schnauss - Between them and us. I also really like that Seba song red arrow posted.

The bummer about this is that I have to stick around dublin for longer than expected now. A few things have come up in work that will ground me till at least the new year ... so I've a bit more time to work it out. I'll post the youtube link here when I'm all finished though ;)
