Receptor that Prozac activates

Hi - I usually post load by taking 1 prozac a few hours after taking a pill, and I have been reading up on it, as i get a few side effects from the prozac I do not like.

At www.erowid.org/chemicals/ssris/ssris_info1.shtml I found this about prozac:

Receptor affinities for SSRI drugs:
Prozac
NARI 54
5HT2a 100
5HT2c 235
BETA 264
Alpha2 410
ACh 445
H1 470
DARI 740
D1 1500
Alpha1 2000
D2 4700
5HT1A 12000

I know what the 5ht's stand for and what they do, and H1 has got to be histamine, and ACh is acetylchloline, and d1 and d2 are dopamine but what are NARI ? nor adrenaline something?
and what are the alpha1, alpha2 and beta ? are they gaba receptors ?
and DARI ? dopamine related ?

and are the numbers are about reuptakes, and not the receptors themself ? as i thought prozac was a reuptake inhibitor, or is it only a selective seratonin reuptake inhibitor. I have also read it is a 5ht2c receptor antagonist, and that would explain why I feel no trippy effects with prozac at all, eg. music sounds very boring on prozac.

the side effects of prozac (for me) is it makes me very sedated, i yawn alot, have no motivation, and i get allergys to certain food, especially high protein food like dairy. prozac bonds to proteins to get around the body so I guess that is why I get allergys to high protein food.

anyone got any helpful hints ?

I am thinking of changing to a different SSRI, like Zoloft. Anyone think this is a good choise ? Does it still protect my brain ?

What are you using the SSRI for? If its actually for a medical condition you should consult a doctor, but if its for neuro-toxicity prevention Zoloft will be just as good as Prozac. Im no doctor but from what i understand Zoloft is the first step in SSRI's. Prozac is given to cases warranting a bit more of a "reaction", while things like Fluoxetine and Paroxetine are stronger still. But this is just what i have picked up. My best advice, and im sure most people would agree, is to see a doctor if its for anything other than post MDMA use. If it is for post MDMA use, stick to Prozac or Zoloft. They work fine. As anyone with depression will tell you your serotonergic system is not to be fucked with...

NARI = nor-adrenaline reuptake inhibitor

DARI = dopamine reuptake inhibitor

alpha 1 = adrenoreceptor

alpha 2 = adrenoreceptor

Beta = adrenoreceptor (presumably)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Affinity is the measure of how well a ligand (drug, endogenous chemical etc) binds to a receptor. Efficacy is the measure of how "well" the ligand causes a secondary response from the receptor.
Secondary responses involve either inositol tris-phosphate (PI3)/ diacylglycerol (DAG) or cAMP (cyclic 3'5' adenosine monophosphate), representative of all 5HT receptors except 5HT3 which is a ligand gated ion channel and 5HT 5 & 6 which have yet to be deduced.
Perhaps the best paper to read on 5HT receptors is
Neuropharmacology 38 (1999) 1083–1152
A review of central 5-HT receptors and their function
Nicholas M. Barnes a,*, Trevor Sharp b,1
It was hosted online but is gone again now. I'll try picking some relevant tables out regarding different receptor actions.
You may also find this post from Q&A Archives to be of some help. 'Drug Dustbin' writes some interesting stuff, although keep in mind the posts are now 3+ years old and may be out of date in some areas.
SSRI's and Ecstasy: The Final Word (Hopefully)
I think you'll find (from memory) the above lists prozac as being the worst for SSRI, post E protection. The best was once Arapax, but if you think the side effects from prozac are bad....
Personally, I think the whole SSRI thing isn't such a hot idea. Too many possible interations IMO. But that's all it is.
Good luck in finding your ideal protector.
Thanks phase dancer, that has answered alot of my questions.
And yes I am starting to think you are right about mixing SSRI and MDMA because one of my friends is getting super bad allergy reactions after doing this, especially from food. For a few weeks after taking 20mg prozac after 1 pill, he cannot eat ANY protein foods without getting a blinding headache (almost migrane) that panadol will not get rid off. And he gets rashes like mad. Not good.
But the strange thing is, that the first year he did this combo he did not get any problems (that he noticed) - I guess over time his body has had enough.
And for myself after 3 years of prozac after pills (about 25 times from memory) I have started getting reactions myself, so I am going to try Zoloft, and if that does not work well, then I am stopping all SSRI post loading and just eating heaps of anti=oxidents.
Cheers
rashes post-mdma use have been linked to liver problems. hunt around bluelight for more info dude, better to be safe than sorry...
I would DEFINITELY see a Dr regarding skin rashes that appear after messing with MDMA and SSRIs.
