So, I saw this article on the front page of a local paper, its a very small paper, only meant for one county around here, anyway, they were discussing how dangerous a local kroger parking lot has become, due to all the drug activity, police have hired a new cop just for this parking lot!

The article says there is alot of buying/ selling going on here, I guess its the hotspot for people to meet at, its a huge parking lot, and very busy, so I can assume people buying/ selling would like to blend in, but for them to call it dangerous, I think is a bit much. I even emailed the reporter that wrote it, she has yet to respond, I basically asked her if it is so dangerous, then surely the police would have crime statistics for this area, which would surely include lots of robberies, thefts, violence, etc. funny thing though, I know alot of people that shop at this grocery store and have never heard anything about crime in this lot.

The article also said alot of people are not waiting to get home to use, they are shooting up right there in the lot, again, they said this makes it extremely dangerous for the other shoppers there, but I dont think it does at all, Ive copped dope 100s of times and never had any problems, its the same thing as when 2 people that know each other, run into each other out in public. I also asked this reporter, since police are saying they have all these people buying shooting dope in the parking lot, then surely there would be ALOT of traffic accidents in the area, due to all those people trying to drive high, but again, she never responded,so I doubt they have a high number of traffic accidents or crime.

I think this is just the cops blowing things out of proportion, making everyone think its soooo dangerous to be around anyone buying or selling, fucking bullshit!

Ive seen a few other articles locally about some other parking lots, there is one close to a bridge leading to Cincinnati, they say alot of people use it in the morning to shoot dope, then drive to work, Again, I assumed they had alot of crime and traffic accidents due to all this drug activity, but I doubt it, Id love to see the actual statistics for traffic accidents, crime in these areas and see if they refute what the pigs are saying! sadly though, if the numbers didnt match their story, I dont think the paper would print that.

Ive even considered emailing the police dept that is involved with this and ask them directly if they truly have alot of crime and traffic accidents around these lots, but not sure I want to go that far.

I'll add to that with the fact that I know plenty of people who shoot up WHILE driving. And yes, when emotions are running hot and people are fiending, it can get messy.

But as you said, if there's no increased statistical likelihood of crime based on the past months or years in that area, I think it's pretty presumptuous to call it "dangerous".

To play devil's advocate here - I personally wouldn't want my family near a drug deal, have you seen what happens when 'drug deals go bad'?

Some one was just murdered over a meth deal in my state in the open. Could have turned much worse despite already being extremely tragic.

I'm sure it's an article to get people worked up and justify more law enforcement.

Please be sure an update if theres a response From the writer.

I should have stated these are heroin related incidents the article is about, and what the cops are referring to, that drug is wreaking havoc on this area right now, meth is not so big around here.

Ive never used WHILE driving, but have driven right after using and I never had any problems, bit I realize some people take alot at one time, so nodding may be a problem, but that was kind of my point here, if the cops are right and that many people are using the local parking lot to shoot up before continuing on to work, it would seem there would be alot of traffic accidents as a result of all those people trying to drive high.

IMO, if heroin was truly as dangerous as the cops are claiming, then how are all these people making it to work every day, maintaining their jobs, and even being able to control their cars to get there? I think cops are blowing things out of proportion and Id bet they dont have a high number of accidents or crime in these lots, they are just trying a different tactic in their attempt to catch more people in the act of buying/ selling.

My town has police sit outside this concert venue to measure the decibel levels to make sure it's not too loud. They've done it at least 28 times in the last few months. A fucking noise unit.

yea it usually involves someone running off with someone elses money and that person being pissed off...

i guess in movies when a "big deal" goes south theres a shoot out or some kind of BS but how often does that really happen? esp on the user level type deal?

infact meeting in a public place would prob make it safer for everyone involved because i doubt someone is as likely to try and rob someone in a crowded lot...

in the end dont you kinda not want your family around it for the same reason when you go to the zoo you kinda hope the monkeys arnt fuckin each other and you kid asks what the hell they are doing? id say its more dangerous that someone is smoking a cig around your family then coppin some dope...
