within the last year there have been multiple legitamite ecstasy busts in the san gabriel valley area of LA county, mainly targeting asain gangs/drug trafficking organizations. there's no way to tell if this accounts for the sudden, recent drought of good pills in southern california (i.e. the "real" pokeball press) but anyone who has been around the block in socal knows that asain gangs are to the mdma trade as mexican cartels are to the heroin/coke trade. the asians run it, plain and simple. the fact that some asian drug rings got taken down cant be a good thing for the socal ecstasy market
the main bust that happened about a year ago (OP references) took down a huge ring that, if i remember correctly, a state attorney was said to have distributed 900 thousand pills throughout some amount of time. i couldnt find the link for this, would someone else possibly have it?
so this happened in august of last year...everything was pretty much fine for the time being. then once around 2011 hit, things with the pokeballs started to go bad. by about april it started getting really dry, and i think we can all say that by the time summer started, if you had "real/og" pokeballs, you knew in the back of your mind you had something that was in limited circulation. now, in august of 2011, the only people who have actuall pokeballs are people who've held on to them for quite sometime.
remember when i said it started getting bad in the late spring/early summer? well a couple mid-level busts happened around that time with the asain gangs:
one was in may, yielding 8 thousand pills
http://www.sgvtribune.com/ci_18041410
one was in june, yielding 5 thousand
http://www.sgvtribune.com/ci_18251647
you can see in one of the articles a picture of all the boats they seized...looks a lot like pokeballs to me...
so in short, i would personally be stunned if these busts within the last year didnt have a direct result in why the pokeballs are gone. granted, those last two links to the busts i posted make up like 13,000 pills, which is a drop of water in the ocean in the grand scheme of things, but i have a feeling one thing leads to another. i think the pokes are pressed out of this country (SE asia) and the pressers had asian-american crime groups distributing the product throughout the SW united states. the busts within the last year have crippled not the pressers/chemists ("the pokemaster") but the people stateside who sell them. all these dudes being taken down have created a vacuum in the roll market...waiting for the next crew to fill it....
