Really?? You Have To Be Joking. Poppy Pods Grow From Those Red Flowers?

THose RED flowers turn INTO those hard shelled poppy pods?!?

I thought poppy flower and the poppie pods were COMPLETELY difference things ! I may be going to look for packets of seeds of these red flowers now the i know this and they are perfectly reasonable to buy and they are just ordinary looking red flowers... wow i had no idea that a flower could just turn into a giant pod that oozes out stuff, aka opium... they do that themselves ?? oooze out opium or do you have to like do something special.

Just seems weird that all the people that buy these seeds and plant them have these and at the end of their flower's lives its a pod and it OOZES OUT OPIUM and they don't notice or anything?!

It is illegal to posses any part of paper somniferum except the seeds in Canada and the United States. From what I recall you can grow them in the UK and Australia (don't quote me on that though), however scoring the pods (making small slits to let opium ooze out) and the poppy straw is also illegal there.

Plants are pretty awesome hey..

They won't ooze opium unless cut, which is illegal to do. And you are correct about the legality of growing/harvesting them (UK at least, bit sketchy about the rest of the world, haha) allegator but we can't discuss sourcing of seeds etc I'm afraid, kanyekneivel, you know that..
