Heroin Really,How easy is it to overdose?

Yes, buprenorphine can block the effects of other opioids completely, not just "mask" the effects, but it is very possible to OD without feeling as though you're high!

ODing on heroin can be pretty random. If you're right on the line, and there's someone to keep waking you up and keep you moving, that can make all the difference. Most ODs consist of someone just nodding out alone and falling into CNS depression. It's so frustrating to have someone die like that because there's so much that can be done to stop it while it's happening!

It's one of the few things I can think of where if you catch it in time, you're absolutely fine, but if you don't... you're dead!

For years, I wouldn't think twice about being around people nodding heavily....now, I get so nervous watching someone nodding...I constantly watch them to make sure they're breathing and have good blood flow!

there's a difference between ODing on just heroin and when other drugs are involved

people try and get as high as possible and there's a fine line between nodding off and ODing and when you are finally about to do it usually youre just glad you got it so youre not exactly thinking

"now let me play this safe and work my way up to that high"

because when you do that you never get as high as you would if you just jump straight to a larger amount

Exactly. That's the issue and what stops a lot of people from doing test doses, even myself when I'm in hardcore addict mode. You know that if you do a small dose first, it's going to cause you not to feel the next real one as much.. we all know how good that first shot is.. so we don't wanna fuck that up by doing a little one in the beginning, we want the great high/rush that you really only get your first shot, or after waiting hours and hours. But, that chase.. that need for the best rush, is what kills us.

Yep. I had a friend who was "prone" to OD'ing, like, our habits were the same but every once in awhile he would nod out/lips would turn blue and I would feel normal. (I've only had this happen to me once.) I got pretty annoying about making sure he always stayed awake. Haha. In the moment he'd always get pissed at me for shaking him and yelling at him and making him stand but deep down he knew I was doing it for a good reason. I guess it's sort of hard to see the good in someone fucking with yr high.

As everyone else has already stated, anyone can OD. First time users, seasoned junkies doing their usual dose, addicts relapsing, these are all possibilities. ALWAYS do test doses when you're getting something you aren't familiar with! If you have a group of junkie friends yr tight with maybe you can take turns doing the test doses but seriously.. I've seen too many close calls to still think it's worth it to just dive into the unknown for the sake of a better rush.
