Be warned, it truly is a terrible script. I figure though, if I post crap first, then anything else I may put up here will look much better
I was cleaning up files on my computer and found this really old, really short script I wrote. I genuinely don't even remember writing it. I figure I might as well film it and put it on youtube. Until then, here it is. Let me know what you think. Really I mostly want to film it so my roommate and I can practice speaking dialog and having it seem natural, before we try to film something that has potential to be entertaining.
A It's really a matter of opinion
B How is whether or not people have free will a matter of opinion?
A It all comes down to whether you believe in God
B Okay, so you were saying there are only two views on free will?
A Basically
B So let's say i'm a believer in the christian god. what is my view?
A Well it's not as simple as that. there are two views, but several
windows through which to view them from.
B So there are more than two views.
A No. the only views are that people have free will, or conversely, people do not have free will.
B So what are these windows?
A Let's go with your believer in the christian god view. if god is truly all knowing, he knows what you will do when you are created. if some entity knows every choice, every thought, and every action you will take throughout your life, before you even exist, how can you have free will?
B But just because He knows what your course of life will be, that doesn't mean you didnt choose it.
A That's the other view of the believer in God. Just because He knows what you will do, does not mean you don't make those choices.
B Well hang on. Like you said - god is all knowing. So - from the beginning of time he knew that, say.. you would get really drunk and lay with Jeneane Silverstein?
A ::sigh:: Well. Yeah. I don't see why you had to use that as an example... but yes.
B So, when god created everything, he knew the outcome of what would happen by His actions. Meaning everything is pre-destined to happen.
A It would appear that way.
B So what about his testing of people, in the bible, like Job.
A Like it also says in the bible, man has free will.
B But if god knew what job would do during his testing of him, why even bother?
A ::annoyed sarcasm:: You're right. this really isn't a matter of opinion. people don't have free will.
B Hey, I never said that.
A well you seem to be arguing quite strongly for it.
B I was just saying this stuff from the point of a believer in god view.
A Well what do you think?
B I think god is a dick. If he knows what people will do, but still "tested" them and put them through some real turmoil, just to prove a point. that is about as abhorrent as it gets.
A Really?
B No. god isn't real.
