So swim finally got to try some real opium, ( positive that it is real,swim saw the pods it came from) and was surprized by the flavor when smoked. First off, it smells more like floral grass clippings than like that incense stuff... but the taste is what got me... It tastes like acrid burnt bitterness... Very different than what swim expected. Swim only took one hit as he wanted to see if this was normal before sampling again.. Anyone ever had fresh before and does this sound normal? I know its real but it was taken fairly early... could this effect anything? Thanks for the help!

I've only heard that Opium is not worth the cost compared to Diacetylmorphine to transport -- and 'Opium' that people may attempt to distribute has been found as simply a bio-synthetic blend of herbs and incense.

Thanks for the reply... Ive also heard that, I wouldn't pay for opium anyways though.. Diamorphine is where the money is at for sure, I just wanted to try this as it was a gift and I dont have the chance very often to try it... I just wasnt sure about the strange flavor lol

Opium does have kinda a sweet/bitter flavor when I smoked/vaped it.
I know my chillum tasted like it for weeks after I smoked the opium out of it. Very distinct smell/taste.

well I first tried to chase it on some foil, but it just wouldn't work so I just threw it in a metal pipe and pulled slowly far from the lighter to keep it from burning but some of it still burnt. I would like to buy an actual opium pipe or make one, yet I can't seem to find one for a good price and have never actually seen one so I don't know what the proper mechanics of one would be. Like I said, this is my first time ( with op) and Id like to experience it to the fullest. Im not expecting H like results or anything, I just think it is nice to try something that isnt as common as some other things. Around here, its all fake O or tar, so I am excited to have the chance. Anyone have any recommendations on how to make an opium pipe?

I have gotten opium on a few occasions through Canadians I know that got some Aghani opium as well as opium from opium poppys grown by friends, and it defintely has a unique taste to it,,kinda a more "earthy" taste and so on..
Yes it's very easy for people to pass of blended herbs and stuff as opium to the unkowing people, and I have heard of people selling cut tar heroin as opium to naive people ...although tar and opium are not "smoked" or vaporized the same way. I guess if you never knwoling had either and some one gave you tar and told you it is opium and you smoked it, not knowing the difference in how it's used compared to tar, and you got high on it, I could see someone inexperienced in opium and heroin making that mistake, especily if the had nothing to compare it to..

Look it up on Erowid or some site, I have smoked out of a proper opium pipe in Asia, but as far as explaining how to make one , I can't remember details of it that well..

In my experience, unless the opium is refined the taste isnt that lovely. It has a fainy flowery smell/taste, but again, its not like you're smoking a daisy or something. Once you refinet the opium, it tastes quite delicious, however you end up losing quite a bit of product that way.
Most opium thats brought in from Northern Africa, India, etc is indeed real opium, and not tar heroin or what have you, like it often is in America.
When smoking it, dont use direct flame. Dont just put it in a bowl, you'll ruin it. "Chasing the dragon", ie using tin foil, also is a very bad method. You lose a lot of product/smoke that way, it just isnt the best.
Unless you can get a real opium pipe, ive found that using a "Glass dick", i.e. "meth pipe" with the curves/chambers in it to work quite well, as well as using a skillet (like you would for hash).
Unless you can get a real opium pipe, which nowdays is very hard, I suggest just doing your own research on smoking methods, as Ive heard numerous people say many different things on the "proper way to smoke it without an opium pipe". Just remember, no direct flame.

Alright I appreciate it guys.. Thanks for the suggestions. Ill do some looking into different smoking methods.. I guess I was just expecting it to be like tar and was hoping the tinfoil would work but I may look into getting a glass ball or something. I thought about refining it, but Its just a lot of effort for the tiny amount I have ( he only gave me enough for a couple smokes as he doesn't grow for the opium, just the flowers so there wasn't a lot of quantity). Hopefully someday I can find a real opium pipe lol.
