Re: BLOOD INFECTION (yesterdays thread)

Yes im going to the hospital today but instead of closing threads like youre shooting squirrels, how about a few questions first.

@Swimmingdancer
Im feeling a lot better today. The headache and neck pain are down to 20% though the abcess thing still hurts.
I DID wake up in a heavy sweat though.

@Znegative
How long did the symptoms last? did you go straight to the ER for blood tests? Should i just go to a walk in clinic first? where do i go and what do i do exactly to ensure the highest chances of not dying?

I also want to do lab tech work as a proffession, and im worried that if this goes on my record, theyll NEVER hire me.
Biology is my passion and i dont wanna ruin it if i can just ride this out instead.

Does anyone know if this will ruin my chances of working in the medical field?

@Znegative what was your experience like in the beggining (first 2 days)?

the absolute last thing you should be worrying about is some kind of "permanent record." HIPAA ensures that your medical information is only available to clinicians treating you. go to the er ffs, if it's lasted a whole day it's not some self-limiting cotton fever stuff.

and do my symptoms sound like

-septicaemia
-endocarditis
-or blood infection

?

I honestly figured i just caught a cold/fever at the same time, and that my headaches from nodding to sleep with my head pointed down towards my chest for 16 hours

HIPAA?

i live in canada though
anyone know how the laws are here?

whatever, im off to the docs. i'll keep checking this thread on my phone.

these are things that can be answered, by, you know, a DOCTOR (or several), not some fucking internet drug nerd. febrile symptoms are serious business when you're an IDU.

i hear ya. i started my thread at 3 in the morning yesterday and was hoping to have some helpful answers by the morning as i'd head to the doctors. instead i got bunch of "GO TO THE HOSPITAL OMG" and mods doing their childish "IM CLOSING THIS THREAD CAUSE I DONT LIKE IT" instead of letting people try to help.

seriously, does everyone think IDU's are so stupid they wont get to the doctor as soon as they can?
has this place really gotten so bad you cant even get a fellow IDU's advice before a mod power-rages and closes a thread?

i swear to god even drugs-forum is more mature than this. google "water from the gutter is better than water from the puddle" and youll see what i mean. that drugs-forum thread is what BL USED to be about. now this place has degraded to shit.

fucking. dissapopinting.

No. Childish is coming on the internet for a diagnosis of something serious. Childish is not wanting to get proper treatment because you are worrying about a potential employer somehow getting your medical records.

You are an IV drug user. In the world of drugs you are playing in the big leagues now, so act like it.

Clinic vs Hospital, well the choice is yours, but you might as well head to the hospital.

i have to say, a lot of people on HR-type forums are overly quick to tell any IV user with a health concern to run to the ER. if I went to the ER every time i got an abscess, or hit an artery, or got cotton fever, i'd probably have the better part of my junkie "career" having panic attacks in waiting rooms. but on the other hand, my last dealer fucking DIED because he wouldn't go to the hospital for his abscesses and went septic. ANY febrile symptoms, major swelling, etc. in an IDU that lasts for more than an hour or two is hospital time imo.

Lol childish is being worried about a future profession that you wont even make it to if you keep abusing these drugs, instead of nutting up and getting some help. Childish to me is having a giant abscess under your arm and just waiting for it to fade away. Also assuming someone on BL can accurately diagnose you is also pretty childish....no one here is a doctor, and even if they are they're reading your text not seeing you/your health first person.

Childish to me is trying to do that instead of letting a real doctor diagnose you. Seems like we define childish in different ways.

Thats just my opinion though. And what do I know I never IV'd drugs? I do know a little bit about being (un)healthy though, and generally speaking, if you feel off/fucked up then its a good idea to hit up the doctor. No one knows your body better than you do.

worrying about your future career is childish? Asking experienced users for advice before heading to the docs is ''childish''?

Im at the ER right now. Shooting up a couple of times a month isnt ''abusing''. You seem to have not read the part where i ASKED FOR ADVICE AT 3AM, HOPING TO GET SOME INSIGHT BEFORE HEADING TO THE DOCS IN THE MORNING.

though i guess anyone home on a saturday night is gonna be a socially akward internet tough guy anyway

If you want help from us, don't insult us. It's that simple. If you think we're all a bunch of "internet tough guys" sitting in our basement on a Saturday night (because Bluelighters only exist in your time zone 8)) then why did you bother to ask for our help in the first place?

What Tommyboy said is dead-on.

I feel like I'm watching a rerun from last night. I never knew that was possible on BL, except I was the lead person last night.

Sorry to get back late. My symptoms were very similar to yours, though a bit more intense. I began to suffer from sever fevers and chills, pulsating headaches, and after fourth eight hours, temporarily paralysis on I believe the right side of my body. It turned out to be MRSA bacterium which is a very nasty form of staph. This thing can kill you, it is resistant to most antibiotics, and has a tendency to spring back up even after it initially appears to clear from your system. Believe me I understand the hesitation to go to the hospital when your future is on the line, but if you don't, you could have no future at all.

Seeing as the last thread was closed, I'm going to shut this one down to. What others have said is correct, we cannot offer you medical advice, please take yourself to the ER right away my friend, we don't want to lose you. Keeping this thread open I fear will only prolong your decision. PM me if you have any questions but PLEASE take care of yourelf.
