RC websites/ is it safe to buy?

I've been researching RC's ever since my experiences with DOB and 2ct7 and I would like to further my experimenting. I've found numerous websites promoting there RC products, and I've also found out about the analog act. My question is; is it safe to buy from RC distributors on the web? or are most sites scams or set up's?

I'm not to sure about the rules of this site but if permitted; what are some trusted sites if any. & how do you feel about RC sites?
