I used to get some fruit juice - citrus, or whatever taste you prefer.
Poppies are very bitter, so some kind of acidic fruit juice can help take some of the edge off the bitterness. (orange, grapefruit or lemon were my preferred types - usually grapefruit, but it's not really important). Whether you squeeze in a fresh lemon, and mix with water (tastes really good on summer day!) - or buy a bottle of fruit juice...whatever helps you drink that stuff down, just go with that.
I'd stick the pods in a blender with some juice. Sort of like all the trendy green smoothies people drink for health benefits at the moment - but to get high.
I would usually pour the contents of the blender (juice and the fibrous poppy pod material) through a strainer, into a bowl.
I'd drink maybe half of it - or a glassful or whatever seems a safe starting dose - to see how strong it was. Over an hour or two you'll get a feel for it, but IME it can take up to 3 hours to reach maximum levels of intoxication - so start low and titrate up if needed.
Just beware that it can take a while to really feel the full effects, so until you've found your 'sweet spot', be careful.
Trust me - you don't want to consume too much pod "tea" - you'll be sick for one or two whole days at least - bedridden, headaches, vomiting; pretty severe sickness that goes on for a long time, and obviously could be fatal, especially if you take any other CNS depressants (benzos, booze, other opiates, etc) with it.
I had some really horrible experiences being too complacent about dosing pod tea, and got very, very sick a couple of times. Also, if you have a bit too much, it can give you a pretty nasty hangover.
Just be aware that the effects are fairly unique - you dose it orally, come up quite slowly, and it's not like shooting smack in the way it hits you. It's more of a drawn-out experience.
Once you have an idea how strong the liquid is - you can test out washing down the pod "grinds"; the stuff you filtered out of the mix.
People call this "toss and wash" or something. Like how some people dose kratom - put the grinds in your mouth, then wash them down with the tea.
For me this was the most efficient way of using pods, and you lose nothing in extraction, it's quick, easy - and the fibre of the pods helps with the tendency of opiates to slow your digestive processes (ie less constipation).
I tried all the methods of heating and straining pods (dry and fresh) - i was hooked on them for years.
I used to grow them, pick them in random places, grow patches of them in untended areas of soil.
And after years of fucking around with different methods i found that blending up the pods, and just basically washing down the grinds with juice or water to be the most efficient method.
I grew to like the taste of fresh pods in fruit juice, and considered them a treat at harvest time. Just a good, simple highly addictive natural drug.
Glad to be free of that habit. But damn, i loved pods. Long lasting, euphoric. I was really into them.
Also - i don't personally think there is a huge difference in potency of dried vs fresh pods.
Per weight - perhaps, but like mushrooms or something, i think the percentage of actives per pod shouldn't vary too much whether dry or fresh. in my experience anyway. You may find otherwise.
