Im so honestly over raves, its like a huge toilet. all the nasty people of todays youth and people who havent grown up yet with no self respect are like the turds who all gather together and bath in scum. I know this because I raved for 3 years, it was my everything, everyone i knew raved, i made money threw raves, my life was a big rave. I donated alot of my brainsells to raves, time i could have spent going to school and studying at raves. sorry if i sound like the rave grinch but i let it really steal alot from me. Its a play ground for emotionally fucked up kids to go run around putting chemicals into there bodys and pretend there in this fake world where everyones nice and accepting.

PLEASE POST STATING YOUR OPINION ON RAVES :) IM JUST CURIOUS OF HOW OTHER PEOPLE VEIW THESE EVENTS

In my view of the current rave culture; anyone who rents out a hip hop club, whores the hell out of it(promotion wise) and throw's a few Chemical Brothers/The Prodigy records on = Rave!

It may be, that I have become the usual "jaded" cliche' ex-raver, being that I only listen to DNB/jungle/breakbeats .vs. my former happy hardcore/hard trance blastin' self....who knows really.

In my experience, since going to "raves" since I was 14, and stopping at 19(22 now.), it's far too opinion-oriented and varies from person-to-person on the definetion of what a "tr00 rave" is. so, I see no point in debating and arguing any longer. We all have our own standards...my point being though; Nothing they've been doing in the past 4 or 5 years is anywhere close to the true "real rave" vibes, I always remembered...that's just me.

I agree with the OP

Summed it up perfectly basically

Near enough every person in there is screwed up in some sort of way
+ I just find it very weird to actually feel the need to make out like you're having a good time and really lovin' the music.

Alot of the time I find a rave like taking 1 big, painful long dump. Emotionally its tiring and has me wondering ''wtf am I doing with my life''

Peace, love and unity = no way, theres loads of hostility in raves these days (im 22)

But saying all this I still go to raves now and again because there isnt alot else to do when you dont have a girlfriend and not a great deal of money.

i personally like raves/festivals...

Raves are pretty much the crack house's of the electronic dance music scene.... but i still go to them....when i see a good line up...

Hey I don't like spinach but that doesnt make spinach a bad thing for everybody. Your reasoning about raves is that of a drug abuser who couldnt control himself and now wants to blame the world for his mistakes

+1

OP, why the hate?
Let everyone be. If its not hurting you, why make a big fuss about it?

Personally though, I think you make a huge generalization probably made from the people you know who go to raves.

You don't know everyone, and from reading your post, you certainly don't know my rave/festival group.

Before you make assumptions and generalizations on a group of people, make sure you "know your shit" so to speak.

To each their own - respectively.

and pfft Zz, how can you hate spinach?! 8o!! you're nuts

I don't really go to raves anymore, they're is too many little kids going there and a lot of people like to start fights. Raves arnt what they used to be about.

fighting at a rave? Ive never seen such a thing

kiddies i can agree with. Massives are now filled to the brim with little 14 year olds who go because they want to go tell all their friends they've "been to a real rave" which can get quite annoying, but its pretty easy to ignore them and have a good time.

Plus they're never at warehouse raves so there's not much to worry about there.

I can agree that the mainstream rave scene has been tainted by the people who go for the drugs and the little kiddies that show up, but the rave/festival scene as a whole is still bangin' and a good scene.

I think it just depends on the people you go with, the rave you're going to, and the type of rave you're attending.

I gather that aussie raves are some what different to yank ones. Legal ones just get wankers, sniffer dogs, over enthused security. Underground on the other hand are awesome. Especially when you get 4-500 people and the cops just sit there and are forced to watch blatant drug use. One of the sydtek wharehouse parties a month ago had about 40 odd cops show up. They sat in the enterance and did nothing, by nothing they didnt stop fights. One of my friends got jumped in the muddy field that the different systems were at the edge of, in plain view of the cops. They did nothing, nor when we got retribution. That really pissed me off. Other funny thing was when 5 of them were walking around they went to the jungle stage and the dj was having a bong, he got pulled aside but was back to change the track. One of my mates asked him after what they had said: "Could you please tone it down"

I suppose it all comes down to crowd if everyone is dancing its great, but when you have everyone in corners shit starts to happen. Also i hate the people who are just there to try and steal other peoples drugs and possesions. They should be hurt in inhumane ways.

In socal raves are fucking awesome. I wish I could go every weekend but they (and the proper drugs) are expensive as fuck.

they was cool when i was younger but now im old , i go to a few punk shows every so often

I'm not a people person or a partier, so raves obviously aren't my scene.

I miss the real underground raves.. where you had to get to a map point to get directions. Weird locations out in the boonies, loud music,.. it was all so exciting. I'd love to go to one of these raves again. The more commercial rave scene (in SoCal at least) is a mix of clubs and raves now - somewhat less exciting but if the line up is good, it can still be hell of a lot of fun.

Music. changes. everything.

I'm glad I went to one, I had a lot of fun. I'm not too into techno though, I'd rather go to a hard rock concert than a rave.

i feel like I missed out on raves.

I can't imagine an actual warehouse type thing going down around buffalo these days. Do underground shows still pop up around nyc?

I was putting my faith into a pilgrimage to the guv in toronto, that's probably as good as it will get for me.. but I've been fucked out of that so many times I refuse to let myself think it will actually happen. I'll believe it when I see it.

Its a play ground for emotionally fucked up kids to go run around putting chemicals into there bodys and pretend there in this fake world where everyones nice and accepting.

I agree to an extent, it IS a welcoming place for kids who are trying to find their place and often end up finding drugs instead.
However, most of the older people that attend keep going because that IS where they belong -drugs or not.
You see this in all walks of life, raves are just having another little moment in the spotlight right now and all the kids are coming to play.

No offense, but that you gave up all other responsibilities in order to party is your own fault.
You were young and made wrong choices, be accountable and stop pointing fingers at others.

Not all that are part of the scene lose themselves to drugs.
I'd argue and say that the most active senior members in the scene have to do well in life and have a profession, otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford shows, drugs, transportation etc every time they want to have a good time.

I'm not a people person or a partier, so raves obviously aren't my scene.

You don't have to be either one of those things.
You just need to be a dancer =D

But my opinion is that they are worth attending when the talent is good and when you're past adolescence.
Right now it's the thing to do, and the fight for money is definitely making the scene ugly.
Not to say I know different I just discovered this world during the summer, but at 20 gimmicks are easy to spot and not at all appealing.

I've been going to Hardcore Raves in the uk since i was 15, now 23.

I have a passion for the music, the rush and the scene in general. I love the loved up atmosphere, the 'hardcore family' atmosphere. The lights, the bassline, the messyness and the fact that most ppl are twatted!

Note Uk Hardcore raves have gone downhill since the likes of Milton Keynes sanctuary was closed and the 'E' scene got slightly fucked up, but still there a wicked place to go to and get fucked, get drunk, or do it straight or whatever you do.

Each to there own i suppose, but i'd much rather go to a rave to listen to music i love, meet sound ppl, and get messy n release the stress...

I'm not sure what the Rave scene is like the the US or other countries but uk raves yes have a lot of chavs there and occasional attitude in the techno room lol but rarely fights go on ...

You do get shady ppl there most of the time that are not there to socialise or for the music and just there to take advantage of messy ppl and rob them.

All part of the scene though ... Got to take the ruff with the smooth if its what you like.

Heres my opionion of raves:
(I've only been going for the last two years so its current...

+ Positive:
- A place to do drugs and not be judged
- A place to do drugs an get out of the house w/ no parents.
- Music
-Trading kandi
-Meeting the occasional cool person. (rare I'm not even kidding. . .)

I thinks thats it lol. . .

- Negative
- Paranoid of Undercovers
- Scared to get mydrink laced (if I have a drink unattended for even one sec I throw it away lol)
- Seeing people get carried out looking limp and dead.
- Seeing people having siezurses on the floor because of light shows.
-The occasional rude ass.
The sweaty ugly old men that want to rape the girls and do.
-The girls that have almost nothing on. (pluRESPECT your body, its not that hot)
-Creepy people that follow you.
-Scared to get pricked.
-Smelly
-5 dollor waters
-Gangsters are going a lot these days along with bros. . (not my favorite.)

Raves used to be for the kids who never fit in in high school. . .the outcasts. .
now its become a gaint club.party. for the gangsters, bros, bro hoes, the gogo dancers that wear nothing, the rapists, 12-years old that are rolling harder than me. . .etc.
the outcasts have been outed.
