Anyone ever get this? I get it EVERY time. Not some, EVERY. and it only ever happens on the day that I roll, so I am 100% positive it is associated with the MDMA use.

Every time I roll its almost as if my lips are not able to moisturize themselves. I have made it a point to buy the most advanced concentrated moisturizers available, and sneak them in (because they a liquid or open container they might have me throw it away and I MUST have a moisturizer) and I have to use it. What happens is as soon as my roll kicks in my lips practically stop moisturizing and before i know it they start feeling kinda sore, so I put the moisturizer on and it feels like heaven (so smooth and juicy and your rolling so of course) but the strange thing is if you were sober, it would instantenously moisturize your lips, but because Im rolling, it just sits and sits and my lips feel a bit better, but still sore.

Anyway this continues the whole night and the next day when I wake up, my lips are bright red (hence raver LIPSTICK) like clown lips. Not super swollen, but a bit puffy and kinda sensitive. I put moisturizer on and keep it on but it just doesnt sink in and moisturize all the way properly, like 25% as efficiently as if I hadnt rolled.

This continues the full day after the roll and then it returns back to normal as time goes on.

I see this happens to other people from time to time, in photos from raves ect. It happens to me every time guaranteed, and i find it a very strange characteristic that your lips would stop being able to moisturize efficiently.

Anyone know what causes this?

I've heard mixed things about MDMA actually being dehydrating- but I believe it is, to some extent. I'd bet that the dry lips thing has a lot to with dehydration- a LOT of people complain about sore tongues, or biting their lips unknowingly, so this could be related.

You may not notice that during your rolling experience that you tend to rub your lips together even more- I know I do a lot of weird things with my mouth (LOL!) when I roll.

thanks for your input. Actually it has become the only lasting burden i have while rolling.

(I took care of clenching by preloading magnesium and it works WONDERS)

so I monitor myself very closely while rolling, since I think about this issue before, during, and after. I do notice that I have a tendency to rub my lips together while rolling, almost like smacking my lips.

I do keep this to as much of a concious minimum as possible, and to be honest I know I keep it to a minimum amount to where if I did the same thing while sober for the same amount of hours it would not cause my lips to turn bright red and be sensitive unmoisturized and sore

They are definatly getting dehydrated, but my question is how and why?

Is it something to do with does ecstasy take the water from your extremities and put it around your organs as a defense mechanism? or is this a wives tale?

Could it be that this issue and the one I just mentioned are related to how it is a dieretic and causes you to stop producing urine?

I seek knowledge lol

I think MDMA is the opposite of a diuretic. I know alcohol is a diuretic and makes you pee a lot, and MDMA seems to do the opposite. It causes your muscles to constrict so it makes it harder to pee. Your body still continues to produce urine, which is why its important to try to pee when you are rolling, or at least at some point in the night.

MDMA raises blood temperature and decreases your body's ability to regulate temperature. Couple this with a hot cub/rave and this can cause dehydration. When I go to a 12 hour event I usually drink a few bottles of water in a night, but get red lips in the morning as well. I move my mouth around a lot whilst rolling as well and chew quite badly (magnesium doesnt work for me). I also put tons of chap stick on while rolling as well as in the days following because my mouth is usually quite sore.

I guess all you can really do is try to stay hydrated and keep applying chap stick. Maybe try a different kind? Hope this helps

If you live in an area where its significantly colder it can be affected by the low humidity right now and also water is needed to roll, so drink lots!!! Blistex helps ;)
