i think it needs to be stated that a 'rave' should be underground and held in a warehouse.
Oh, word to that brother.
Before I go on, I should probably state that I'm in the raver camp, though I go to doofs and quite like them. Psy rocks. Doofer hippies are cool.
But I have to disagree strongly with the idea that raves are big commercial events. I even tend to disagree with the idea that the big commercial events are raves at all. I know, I go to both kinds of party. I even have fun at the Big Commercial Thingies.
But a rave, a real rave, is an increasingly rare thing nowadays, and when you find one, you know it. It's hard to run an underground event in a warehouse, and even if you pull that off, attaining that critical mass of like-minded, like-mooded, hot-dancing, PLUR*-vibrating fools is never guaranteed. When you do, you feel like you've picked up the torch for a little while, and you want to do it again.
And ya know something? I've never heard Happy Hardcore at one.

Note on PLUR: I mean just that. Peace. Love. Unity (Understanding). Respect. I don't mean running around with a dummy in your mouth trying to out-gurn the other people you're having the hardass pill-munching competition with and demanding that people Smile, Dammit!
