Ratalin or Adderall? (It took me a few weeks of lurking but I decided to post this thread).
I have ADD and depression. First I was on Wellbutrin/Bupropion SR 150mg a day for my depression and ADD. I got massive headaches, very dark and ominous ones. So I was put on Citalopram 20mg, then 40mg, then 60mg. Then back down to 40mg as my doc said that's the new MFG limit. My depression got worse so I was back to 60mg and just a few days ago raised to 80mg which is max doc said.
For ADD, since I couldn't take Wellbutrin, I was prescribed Ritalin 20mg once a day. I seemed too strong at first as it got me weird so I sprited them and took 10mg twice a day. It was better but still I only felt good and optimum 1 to 1 1/2hrs after I took my first 10mg of Ritalin with Cetalopram. But I was never able to reach that point again even with 10mg 3 times a day. So doc was going to double Ritalin for me but I opted to check out Adderall 10mg twice a day. The first day, with 80mg of Citalopram and 10mg of Adderall, I felt good. (But I took a morning shower in a long time - you see I have depression and I generally don't do much including get up and shower earyl - because I had to go see a doc at 8AM, so that might've had some effect.) I'll have to try more and experiment with dosages to know how much Adderall will help me with my ADD, yet. So far it doesn't seem as strong as Ritalin. I might try 20mg.
To be honest, I've been using cocaine for very long time though on and off (not much weed... it doesn't have good effect socially with my ADD - I space out waaay too much - though if I am alone it's fine, spacing out that is). The actual reason for my coke usage, I think is, coke helps me get my libido up. It came down to that after a long time of coke usage. I'd rather have sex with coke than hang out with friends doing it. but all the cost and perils come with having to score good coke. So when I got ritalin and read up on it, i started to snort Ritalin (not on top of my dosage usually). At first it tasted too med-like for me but after a while I got used to it I like ritalin better in some ways because I get less burned out from it and I can eat. Most of all I don't have to pay a lot, not as much as cocaine, especially in this economy. Well, it hits two bird with one stone for me, so to speak, though, libido wise, they don't help if not take away more.
When I got Adderall 10mg x 2 a few days ago (instead of Ritalin 20mg x 3 per day that I could've got), I tried snorting it but I did not like it - way too sweet tasting and "BLUE"!! It seemed stronger though, ie, compared to ritalin when snorting. But nothing even close to coke-like taste. Taste has a lot to do with craving coke for me. I don't like even good coke if the taste is not there. Since like mid 90s good tasting ether coke are not around any more, I know.
The question is which one is better, Adderall or Ritalin, for how I use them? Which one is less likely to give me addiction or build tolerance? I don't want to have to keep increasing my dosage to get the same effect, if it is possible. I'd rather get ritalin, having snorted it for that purpose.
Also as I said, the part of the reason I still continue doing coke is for the sex sake. After I've been on Citalopram, Ritalin, and now Adderall, sex has been "trying and awkward" at best. I hinted on getting something for that but doc suggested that it is due to the above mentioned meds or pre-existing condition that I should talk to my general practice doc. My general practice doc told me to talk to my psychiatrist....
I also took some Xanax (when I ran out of pot to smoke, which helped me come down and put me to sleep) that I happened to have a few around (my dad's for his cancer that he no longer needs...) when I couldn't come down or became too wired. It worked great. Now I'm out of them. I have a bunch of Vicoprofen; can I take them instead of Xanax to similar effect?
What do you think, bluelighters? I want to know whether I should go back to Ritalin, and other advises would be appreciated. TIA
