PHOENIX (AP) — Two dogs found buried at a home belonging to DMX had serious wounds, said authorities investigating animal neglect allegations.
One of the dogs had serious bite wounds and another had trauma to its abdomen, but exact causes of death were not determined, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Saturday. A third dog carcass had been burned so badly an exam was inconclusive.
The remains were dug up on Aug. 24, when sheriff's investigators probing allegations of animal neglect raided the rapper's home in north Phoenix.
Authorities also seized 12 live pit bulls, numerous weapons, and about a quarter-ounce of marijuana in a bedroom, Arpaio said. The sheriff initially said a half-pound of suspected narcotics was found, but tests showed the substance was not illegal drugs.
No charges had been filed against the rapper or anyone else, but Arpaio said that may change.
"Someone's going to have to pay for this," the sheriff said. "We have 12 dogs who were abused and three dogs buried in the yard — someone's going to have to pay."
A lawyer for the 36-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has said DMX was not at the home during the raid, hadn't been there for months and was paying caretakers and veterinarians to care for his animals.
Murray Richman on Saturday questioned how the sheriff could connect his client to any alleged animal abuse.
"How do you attribute activities to a person who has not been there, when they have knowledge that other persons have been," Richman said. "Is it because of the celebrity nature?"

Did you ever think that DMX loves his dogs because of the feelings they give him after they win a dog fight? just b/c dmx raps about loving his dogs doesn't mean in any way that he doesnt fight them. the toughguy ego-boost provided by the "macho" act of raising and fighting big dogs seems just like his style, especially for a rapper who's always talking about how big, bad, and thuggish he is, like he has something to prove
"he didn't know what was going on at his house while he wasnt there" - that is bullshit. that is exactly what a lawyer trying to get someone out of trouble would tell him to say. who goes out of town and asks people to watch their house without knowing what kind of people they are, what they like to do, and what they probably will do while you're away? DMX and the lawyer are using that excuse because it is a legal loophole.
If you think that someone who has multiple arrests for violent crimes and robberies and is also stockpiling assault weapons should be allowed to freely walk the streets, than you are a fucking idiot. your opinion would change if some thug ass piece of shit robbed you. drug addiction is no excuse for commiting crimes, and if you think it is you need to get your head out of your drug addled asshole. only a fucking punk ass like you who robs people would take his side, you deserve some serious jail time or a monumental beating for what you did too.
people who are violent and people who rob or steal do not deserve to spend their lives anywhere but in prison or pushing up the daisies. how the fuck can you disagree with keeping violent dangerous people away from the rest of the population?

COCAINE FOUND AT RAPPER DMXs HOME
Recent lab tests conducted after an animal cruelty investigation of the rapper DMX returned results that a substance found in his Cave Creek home is cocaine according to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Authorities seized 12 live pit bulls, numerous weapons and about a quarter-ounce of marijuana after serving a search warrant at Earl Simmons’ home during the August investigation.
A substance thought to be an illegal narcotic also was found and now has been confirmed to be cocaine.
Three dead pit bulls were also found buried in the yard.
Necropsy and skeletal reports released Friday (October 5) by the sheriff’s office showed that one of the dead dogs had evidence of heavy bruising as a consequence of blunt force, another had skeletal grooves resulting from a severe dog bite wound, and a third had fractures, bite wounds and burns so intense that the dog’s sex was undeterminable.
The time of death for each dog is pending an entomology analysis, which determines when and where insects laid eggs in the dead bodies. The causes of death are still undetermined.
Authorities are investigating if the dogs had been used in dogfights which carries a felony charge.
Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Paul Chagolla said no charges have been filed yet and that the case is still under investigation.
In March 2002, Simmons was found guilty on 13 counts of animal cruelty.
In that case, there was also an illegal narcotics tie, as authorities found used glass crack cocaine pipes in the master bedroom of the rapper’s home.

WTF??? They said that they determined the substance found in his house WAS NOT A NARCOTIC last time, how the hell does that change. Like oh shit. Wait guys. The test we did before and reported on, where it says if theres drugs in the powder? you know that part that said it came up positive for "cocaine?" We like, totally missed it! DOH! Silly us. Hahah, well, it was coke, srsly guys. We all make mistakes right?
How can they say it wasnt drugs,and now its drugs. How can they say in the first article that it did not show signs of dogfighting, just neglect/abuse, and now its this. why do they keep changing their story so much when the case details aint been changing.

If this is true.. i have no sympathy for him. 80% of convicted felons are repeat offenders. So i'm more akin to side w/ the fact that he's probably guilty. Only in the justice system are you innocent until proven guilty. That has no bearing on public opinion or on what people "ought to think." I'm a recovering drug addict too, but i also learned (through the help of 12-step meetings) that i also have to take responsibility for my actions and make the proper ammends, i.e.- jail time, apologies, etc.
So i think the debate thats going on here, and the point you may be missing lacey is that a lot of people are saying... for the crimes he was convicted of, he basically got a slap on the wrist compared to that of a typical, average joe convicted of the same crime. He's not paying the consequences like a normal, average individual would--mostly b/c of the fact that our justice system is based on money and how good of a lawyer you can afford.
You can be charged w/ possession in some counties and/or states just from resin alone (in a pipe). I don't know if this is what they're talking about or what, but the articles do seem to be contradicting one another.
I'm not a fan of Arpaio or DMX. But if i'd have to form an opinion on this matter w/ only the given information in this thead... i'd say this case is a product of over zealous prosecution/investigation trying to add more charges on to the original offenses. But, w/ the given evidence, its clear that there were dogs willingly killed and/or abused. And even if he wasn't there for 2 months, regardless, its his house. He's responsible for what goes on there.
I don't believe for a second a multi-millionare doesn't know whats going on at his own house, anyways. He's not just going to unknowingly turn over his house to a bunch of wannabe, bad-ass gangsters who're going to use his property for a bunch of illegal acitivity w/o DMX's knowledge. No, i'm sure he put one of his "niggas" (im not racist; that's his own words!) in there, someone he knew really well. And he knew exactly what was going on.
The whole unknown powder/cocaine thing is fishy though.
wasnt he charged with pulling someone over and impersonating an FBI agent and they later found crack in his car or something? i skimmed that arrest report but didnt notice it.
on another note, i dont know about that dog body being burned and all...but srsly what do you guys do when you have a pet that dies? do you throw it away or something or do you do what everyone else does and bury it in the backyard?

^^Yea i know....That is what i was wondering.....I wrote out a post when i was all high but i fell asleep one time pretty much sayin just that. But how is having a dead dog body a bad thing, if you have a lot of dogs, then havin multiple dead ones aint necessarily bad, they die. they said it DIDNT look like they got used for dog fighting. so.....then whats the problem.......pets die, what do you do with them like you said GP, exactly. Bury em in the backyard. Im sure they didnt fuckin burn the dog alive. Its like his dogs died, he "disposed" of them or whatever and now its some animal investigation.
I know someone whose 2 dogs died the same week....they had to break the dogs legs after they died, to fit them in the hole they had dug. i wonder if that would come up as animal cruelty if joe arpaio was in my town.
If i get showed any definitive evidence that this shit is legit, Ill believe it. i aint gonna deny it when there is some credibile solid grounds for them to stand on. it aint like ima deny the truth jus cuz i dont believe DMX would do that. Ill be the first one to be like "yo, my bad i was wrong" if they can proove anything. but right now it looks like a whole bunch of speculatin and bullshit and I aint gettin sold on this flimsy circumstantial shit that they keep changin every week.
