hi folks i was wondering if i could get some advice.Would taking ranitadine anti acid tab before recreational use of benzos and opiates help with the bio absoption of these drugs? If so how long before how long before taking them . Thanks:\

It's in the same family of drugs as cimetidine (Tagamet), so it has the same effects. Ranitidine, in regularly prescribed doses, has a weak effect of inhibiting cytochrome p-450. It is nowhere as strong as an inhibitor as cimetidine, but you can take more than the therapeutic dose to try to potentiate, but I wouldn't go overboard as it can be unsafe if too much is taken.

Don't take more than 300 mg at once, 150 mg is the extra strength formula of ranitidine (Zantac).

I wouldn't bother trying, the effects are weak and it is not known if they are even clinically significant. Rantadine was developed to replace cimetidine, with which the CYP450 inhibition is considered problematic.

Good answers from peg and kokaino (although I wouldn't bother taking supratherapeutic doses to attempt to potentiate).

Since this is answered, I'm going to close it. PM me if you have any questions.
