it's been a while, but hey i'm in the mood

People don't rule the world
the world rules itself
People don't ruin the world
the world ruins itself
People aren't ruing the world
and the world isn't ruing itself
But people can be wrong about the world
while the world can't be wrong about itself.

A pile of bills under a pile of empty cigarette decks
surrounded by empty chip packs
jumped together with books and computer cords
all sitting next to me like a friend.
A computer monitor next to a television
blocking my vision of a computer box
upon which sits cd's and cases
and that little house i build from icypole sticks.
A table between me and the rest of the room
covered in random odds and ends and stuff
abused by a weight that it can never shake
filthy where uncovered, it has a crust of dust
And the rest of the room
no one is here right now
its so still
i can here branches brushing against next doors fence.

Instantaneous gratification, this is my addiction
suffering from it day and night, this terrible affliction
I feel a deep and driving need to find happy pacification
instead of taking the necessary means to bring it for any duration
And so its now, I'm seeking thoughts that bring me some conviction
for what I'm really seeking is some words of benediction
for words that last beyond right now can help to end prediction
I'll get my fix as easy as though I just walked in the kitchen

Success
Satisfaction
Left behind a contraption
What a way to start a day I hate in such a fashion
tomorrow is good friday
so tonight we get the honor of
destroying a village worth of food
stores are closed good friday.
yay

a perfect piece of hatred
self-defining disgust
with all the might within my arm
i give my fingered thrust

:)

damn echo i really like this piece in its entirety. nicely done.

Instantaneous gratification, this is my addiction
suffering from it day and night, this terrible affliction
I feel a deep and driving need to find happy pacification
instead of taking the necessary means to bring it for any duration
And so its now, I'm seeking thoughts that bring me some conviction

Love this one, especially how the line 'no one is here right now' slides in like a sidethought:

A pile of bills under a pile of empty cigarette decks
surrounded by empty chip packs
jumped together with books and computer cords
all sitting next to me like a friend.
A computer monitor next to a television
blocking my vision of a computer box
upon which sits cd's and cases
and that little house i build from icypole sticks.
A table between me and the rest of the room
covered in random odds and ends and stuff
abused by a weight that it can never shake
filthy where uncovered, it has a crust of dust
And the rest of the room
no one is here right now
its so still
i can here branches brushing against next doors fence.

And this resonated with me on more than one level:

tomorrow is good friday
so tonight we get the honor of
destroying a village worth of food

I went to the supermarket on Easter Sunday thinking it would be open...

I enjoyed reading these.
Reminds me of when one wakes up in the morning, probably from the wrong side of the bed and sees the world for that day in a cynical mindset
