I totally didnt want to turn this into some CE&P war between myself and THR. :(

I'll ask a question, so that maybe we can move on:

How do we know what the milky way galaxy looks like, when we have no way of getting outside of it to look at it? Whats up with those pictures of other spiral galaxies that are supposed to be ours?

is it racist to say african americans are ugly (physique) based on personal preference?

Why are all the eggs here in the UK a brownish colour and why are all the ones I have encountered abroad, white?

Surely they all come from chickens? Is it a cultural preference? Is there a practical reason?

*Note - answer stolen from wikipedia

Different breeds of chicken can lay eggs with shells varying from whites through to brown and rarer colours such as speckled green. Although there are absolutely no nutritional differences, there is often a cultural preference for one colour over another. For example, in most regions of the United States eggs are generally white, while in the northeast of that country, and in the United Kingdom eggs are generally light-brown. These habits may be associated with perceptions of greater purity in white-shelled eggs or greater wholesomeness in brown-shelled eggs.

is it right to say founded upon or found upon? i.e. the rules were founded upon the notion that..blahblah...or the rules were found upon? can it be both?

ive lived with people breeding chickens for 2 years. white eggs come from white chickens, brown ones from brown chickens.
beacuse white eggs tends to sell better, you will find mostly white chickens in large scale eggproducing places.
which is sickening btw. not the racial discrimination but the production as a whole.

i wonder if people are really thinking when they say "cheap at half the price". of course it would be cheap at half the price - it's half the price!

how about "cheap at twice the price" - makes a little more sense doesn't it?

and, why do people say "i could care less". in that case, you still care. how about caring so little you couldn't care less?

:\

alasdair

People saying I could care less are just repeated what they heard or misheard without thinking as to what they are saying. Although I'm sure that I've said it that way before just from hearing it so damn much.

..kinda like "all intensive purpouses"
