once i happened upon a mystifying conundrum of physics and magic.
whilst cleaning out my pantry a few years ago, i found a six-pack of some weird hippie soda, 'natural' raspberry-vanilla shit. it could have been anywhere between two and eight years old. i'm sure it was neglected because i would never voluntarily have a beverage that wasn't brown and caffeinated.
when i actually picked the pack of cans up, i noticed immediately that it felt a little funny - lighter, and unevenly distributed. i assumed that one of the cans had spilled, somehow, but there was no trace of color or stickiness or water damage anywhere near the former location of said sodas.
upon examination of the individual cans, i discovered that one of them felt like air. i shook it to see if i could hear any drops rolling around, but no. appearance-wise, this can, like the rest of its brothers, looked like it was brand new. not a dent, not a surface puncture, nothing. the pop-tab was securely in its 'closed' position, and the top surface was still convex.
next step, naturally, was to immerse the can in water and check for air bubbles. not a single one. the can floats right back up to the top of the sink once i take my hand away. it's a completely empty soda can with absolutely no discernable means of fluid escape.
so yeah. wtf?
