I've not commented on a post by lacey k before so I'm not sure what you mean. In this thread I was struck by both what she said and how she said it. It was just shit I was wondering about.

yes, i know about all those but from where im from (detroit) those 4 i mentioned are the MAJOR ones, im talking major roads here...not those shitters inside a subdivision.

That's a really crappy attitude - I'm honestly interesting in learning and understanding how people interact and you seem to just be interested in friction - why would participate in an online community if you don't intend to widen your horizons?

why is seltzer supposed to take out stains on clothes? how does tha towrk? is it like Oxy Clean? cuz the bubbles? lol

I always took it to mean falling on deaf ears, or you're going to ignore something anyway.

Wry can mean dryly humourous and also mean twisted to one side too (which the smile is), so both of those kinda fit the emoticon too, IMO.
 
I've always thought :| was an annoyed/ruffled face where you aren't pissed off enough to go :X , but are slightly more pissed off than :p . Like, "ugh, my dog won't stop barking :| ". I guess that could be a :p also..

Well I dont know exactly how seltzer gets stuff clean, but here's a list of what it can do:

NOW Look what you can do with Alka-Seltzer: Clean a toilet - drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets, wait twenty minutes, brush, and flush. The citric acid and effervescent action clean vitreous china. Clean a vase - to remove a stain from the bottom of a glass vase or cruet, fill with water and drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets. Polish jewelry - drop two Alka-Seltzer tablets into a glass of water and immerse the jewelry for two minutes. Clean a thermos bottle - fill the bottle with water, drop in four Alka-Seltzer tablets, and let soak for an hour (or longer, if necessary). Unclog a drain - clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka-Seltzer tablets down the drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar Wait a few minutes, then run the hot water.

i always thought of it to convey the word blah. or the feeling if you can wrap your head around that.
 
going back to food, if you were thinking of sugar as a drug, is icing sugar more 'potent' than regular white granulated sugar?
 
making it methgulcose...or dextroglucose..depending. maybe even diacetylglucose =D
 
Hmm, by volume icing sugar is more potent, simply because it's more finely ground and more can be packed together/it's denser. Otherwise, no, it's not more potent. It's the exact same stuff, just ground more finely.

And sugar = sucrose.

Now fructose, for example, is more potent (sweeter) than sucrose, on a weight basis. Glucose is less sweet. Sucrose is a dimeric sugar, made up of 1 part glucose and 1 part fructose.

Physics related question:

We fill 25lt containers of alcohol by having a full container raised higher than the empty one and sticking a hose from the full container to the empty one and shaking the hose a bit. The alcohol flows UP through the opening then down into the empty drum. Id understand if the alcohol went straight down how this works but how can the alcohol flow UP (against gravity) and then down the hose until the full container is empty?

No one can explain this to me...and its really giving me the shits.

Ok so you can see the lighter colored water is below the original water, this is being pulled down by gravity. As it flows down it pulls the water above it because of suction. Get it?
