^ Yes! :D That would be fantastic. A Bristol/SW BLer meet is definitely something I want to try to arrange this summer.

I am not resigned either. Fuck off rain!

Afternoon, all :)

No rain here but bloody nippy. Was so chilly I actually woke up at a fairly reasonable time for once. Was still shaking the last drops of me morning wee from me nobend when the phone rang - was an EADDer making use of me phone number. Blimey. A rare event worthy of celebration. Unfortunately, seeing as I'd been conscious for barely a minute at the time I was a tad groggy so arranged for a callback after me Rice Crispies, cuppa coffee, cig and - recent addition to morning routine - few lines of oxy. Was warned that phone-based EADDer would be filling the time before calling back with a tinfoil/peevee combo. So I'll expect that call to come in about a week hence :D

*waves at phone-based eadder and assures him i'm less bleary-eyed and grogged of head now - great to hear from you and feel free to call back as and when... but quite understand if you've become a tad... busy in the meantime*

<3

Just popping my head in to say hello to you all :)~<3

Been away since Wednesday having a grand ol' time of duvet kingdoms and debauchery ;)

<3 Much love you twats! <3

So, anyone know if there's going to be a summer in the UK this year? Or are we in for a long, drowny shitbag of a season?

I'm reading Requiem For A Dream, and wishing I wasn't.

Albion reminded me of Rainymood, I hadn't listened to it in quite a while, so I had been listening to it since I got up, but it seems kinda redundant now with the lovely weather outside.
Maybe if it sounded as awesome as Rainymood I wouldn't be so bothered by the huge contrast in the weather from only a week (?) or so ago. :sus:

Long, drowny shitbag of a season appears to be the trend of late. Been years since we had a proper summer rather than just the odd week of ridiculously overhot sweat-soaked swampiness surrounded by far more weeks of howling gales, extensive flooding and fuckin' f-f-f-f-freeezing. They don't make summers like they used to :(

Also, *waves at monsta and duvet debauchery companion* <3

Fear not, we've not hit the Solstice yet. Just think of it as the tail end an extremely fitful spring.

That's diregarding the fact that th seasons (as traditionally defined) barely mean anything these days, but hey...

I thought I was imagining it. When you used to get your 6 weeks off for summer, once every couple of years you'd get one of those ridiculous heatwaves where it'd be 30 every day for like 3 weeks. I thought it was because I was younger that the week felt like 3 weeks, but apparently not. August is not 'the' month of good weather any more either. You just get your sunshine when you can.

I remember MASSIVE storms when I was a kid though, down in Fermanagh. They were fucking awesome.
But of course, the amount of hot days still outweighed the few stormy ones.

Aye back in the day we used to have storms. Fucking love thunder. Nature's own dubstep - (edit: Not really fair to nature). The lightning aint so bad either.

The one good thing to come from climate change in the UK is that if you want to avoid being caught by the sun you don't have to spend as much time indoors or as much money on sunblock as you did previously.

WTF is going on with climate change these days? I hear some famous people, usually on nature and travel programs, have a little whinge. But we don't seem to be doing anything but saying "save us scientiiissttssss", o and throwing our glass out in the way that Scandis have been for decades. I can see why we don't bother, China and India are never ever going to do anything, so we might as well get in on fucking everything up. But still.

In related human fuckupery, these are adorable:

Climate change took a back-seat to 9/11, and the credit crunch, and Eurozone Crisis and Diamond Jubilee and other more pressing (interesting) issues.

Ya. I wondered if it was just rosyhue of yoofdom that made it seem that way but it definitely ain't. Summers may have always been a bit variable but I honestly can't recall a school summer holiday that wasn't summery for at least most of the time. Not as blisteringly hot as the hot days we get now maybe but consistently pleasant for weeks at a stretch. Kinda the opposite of what we have now really - nice for weeks at a time with a few shitty days interspersed.

And Rolos were as big as your FIST I tell you.

Possibly true, possibly rosetint, but what definitely is true is that CurlyWurlies are pitifully puny compared to oldskool ones. Was gifted said choccytoffy snackstuff just last week and tasty as ever it may be but definitely a shadow of its former self :(

All chocs seem to have shrivelled these last few years. Think they're overcompensating for when they all got sillysize big in the 90s. And bloody pricey too 8o
