Hows it going?

ahhh such a beautiful day. this week is going fast, love it. bit knackered from work so gonna chill tonight. been a bit cheeky and gone against my none weekday drug useage thingie and done a cheeky lil line of MXE. should make the evening a bit interesting

also got some oxy in the post.. gonna give it a try this weekend. need to do some more reading first though
 
Pre-peeled garlic? I've never seen that before. Would turn my life around tbh.

Morissons and Tescos both do pre-mashed garlics and chillis if you're even lazier than that. There is also the lazy chilli brand, but I find they taste a bit vinegary.
 
Isn't that a bit too much garlic? I just buy jars of pre-peeled garlic from tescos, which are £1 each and have 2 full heads of garlic in them :D
prepeeled garlic is gash beyond words. it loses its flavour big style imo. the stuff that's prepeeled and in brine anyhoo (same goes for olives in brine too ... sometimes theyre okay when theyre bottled and in oil, but still fresh is best imo)

I only generally like fresh. these baskets from lidl are fresh & each bulb just contains the normal type of cloves, only there's no peel, except on thee outside! you just have to bash it (using a large blade on thee side) and the peel just falls off almost

these lidl ones have about 14 full bulbs for £1, and theyre in a pretty little basket too ... I'm in love <3

I fucking love garlic so much. I take daily garlic tabs because theyre great for your immunity and fighting infection too. especially good if you ever have tooth or gum ache etc as well

also I just had a whole one with some roast peppers and it was lush. grown in italy*. anything with the slogan 'one bulb, one clove, one love' ... has me sold. I'm cheap n easy when it comes to such cute things ;p

Aye I am aware of the lazy range. Delicious but usually dampened in intensity I find.

Those do look good. I go for the ones packaged in sunflower oil because they don't tend to fuck up the flavour much if at all. How on earth do you eat one of those in a meal?! Or do you cut it in half? Morissons crushed chillis in a little tub are brilliant. I think they are probably better than chillis they normally sell for some reason. Then again Morrisons has gone totally shit recently.
 
That garlic...

the last few years I've been growing elephant garlic.

every year one or two bulbs haven't developed properly, and they've become just one giant bulb, like a clove, but in the shape of a bulb....

I always assumed it was poor growing, but plant them the followng year and they produce a normal bulb....


I suspect they grow naturally as a result of drought, some sort of deficiency or whatever and either the growers had a poor year and decided to market these bulbs in their own right, OR, more likely, they have found a way to artificially stress the plants to produce the mono-bulb....having realised that people love them.
 
When I first got into cooking in my student days I thought when recipes said one 'clove' of garlic it meant a whole bulb, people used to complain about the house stinking of garlic but the food always tasted fine to me.

Is there a dentist in the house? I'm going tomorrow but just anticipating (the extortionate amount I'll be charged)....I have a VERY wobbly tooth, like I could pull it out without too much slam if I tied it to a door handle.

So what's a wobbly tooth mean? Filling? Extraction?

albion just squash/crush/smash the garlic under the flat side of a large blade, then it will fall out its skin.
 
I didn't know squashing garlic worked. Don't you get a sticky skinny inedible mess?
 
Marks and Sparks probably do pre cut garlic...or chopped. I always slice my garlic.. I think I was influenced by a Godfather or Goodfellas scene when some mafia chap said crushed garlic is rubbish.. ( but in new york/Italian American dialect)..

Smash yer garlic to peel it, Alby. Didn't realise folks tried to peel it any other way. You never watched a cooking show in yer puff or summat? :D

Am also a massive garlic fan. Not so much a fan of massive garlic as it's a tad on the mild side though. Me and a mate used to roast whole bulbs and munch 'em as you would munch peanuts with beer. Much as I <3 the smell of garlic, it does get to a stage when it goes beyond standard garlic whiff and into some strange twilight zone stench that's just pure fuckin' foetid. Couldn't even begin to describe it but it's nowt like garlic anymore. More like rotting roadkill if anything. Rancid. But very tasty <3

SHM: I also have need of dental work now after chipping a tooth on a lettuce leaf earlier. Or possibly a piece of pistachio. Or summat else. Fuckin' thing is raggedy as fuck and I keep catching the inside of me cheek with it. It's not like I generally bite me cheek so fuck knows why I am now as soon as it's razor bastard sharp :!
