As others have said, I'm absolutely certain nobody wants you anything bad here. You must just have a little malware or a spyware of some sort, which can easily be destroyed and furthermore prevented from reappearing by running just a scan on your computer. I'm sure you'll be able to rout out this petty virus with easiness ;)

Sounds like those old school "hacker" programs you could download. Can't remember the name of any of them but there was a few. You basically had to get someone to install the server thing through a lie of some sort (or just using, I think, a port scanner to search for machines that already had it installed), you could then connect to their IP address & fuck about with shit remotely using a simple interface. Open & close the CD drive, open chat dialog things, display messages on the screen, browse (& therefore upload/download/run/delete) files etc.

I can remember messing about with one when I was about 16 so that was at least 10 years ago.

I dont know Trammies.. But I did download a couple of security files someone suggested I cant remember who.. ive tried looking back.
Also several months ago when I was having something of an episode I gave out the links to a few of the other sites I went on. Its simple to get an IP address from one site in particular.

Believe me I've been questioning myself for months about this. I seriously wish it was paranoia. Its not.

Theres a chilling list here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_administration_software of some of the things a R.A.T can do if someone has your IP address.

I'm guessing the more popular RAT software will immediately be picked up by anti-virus software. Scan your computer or dismantle it to make sure the hackers didn't plant a listening device, either should sort it out.

I think yella is querying why Arnold dropped that link in the thread, unrelated to anything else that was being posted at the time, under the words

It doesn't make much sense to me that he would post that link in that way either

not saying there's anything in it, but I could see that if I'd had a conversation with Arnold in someway off the forum (don't know if yella has or not), then it could make her start to worry if she's having computer problems.

again, I have no clue if this has happened or not, just that it's a bit of an odd link to drop in the thread randomly with that message/text

I'm sure that if Yellow needs any assistance she'll give us a shout, I have to say that apart from the odd bit of malware I haven't suffered any serious infections on any of my PCs in nearly 20 years. I'm by no means obsessive about security either.

Hacking is such a broad term with no detail as to what has actually occurred there's not a lot we can do :\

polkadot mentioned a few days before that post that she was in communication with a haxer, arnold made that post on the same day that the virus bulletin was posted, it would have been spread all over tech news aggregator sites, i think i seen the same one on the register or slashdot, thus he posted it up.

Yep it is :( think there's an anti EDL protest going on too, I'll investigate..

I know fuck all about hacking but it would seem a lot more likely that you picked up a virus from somewhere Ms Yella, as others said.. I'm sure no-one here is sending you nasty things over the net..
