I sometimes forget that people who aren't serial killers-in-the-making eat meat.

If I find out somebody does then I try not to let it influence my opinion of them, though part of me still thinks they're insane.

Shall we agree to disagree? :)

I remember pushing my girlfriend off me many years ago because she'd eaten meat and tried to kiss me. I don't think my reaction would have been any more extreme if she'd been carrying a knife. Which is something I had to deal with a few years down the line, but the less said about that the better.

hrmn, I'm still a little surprised that you said you were a veggie tbh. I'm sure I've seen you mentioning or referencing on here at some point that you'd eaten something (and it was meat related) ... :sus:

If it was some kind of allusion to furburgerism then it was a total fib. I'm far too lazy and inconsiderate for that bollocks.

On the blower to customs, Pink? Rather you than me. Best of luck.

Being a vegetarian is the way forward on a planet with an increasing population and limited resources. It is far more economical. Thats not the reason I don't eat meat though.

I remember chatting to evad bout it..he gave me a well tastey falalfel and homous recipe. Forogot what went into it now tho :(

Tis an interesting debate, I have actually killed an animal and prepared and eaten it more than once, both chickens and rabbits, although I have to say the killing bit was not at all pleasant and I wouldn't be keen to do it now.

There is more than a bit of insanity on either side of the fence, take a hard line vegee view wearing leather shoes and jacket and driving a brand new BMW with leather interior, as my sibling does 8(

I believe Charles Manson was a vegan and a quick search reveals so was someone called William "The Mutilator" Macdonald, I'm not big on serial killers, so we'll leave Hitler to one side ;)

off the phone and half my dealings sorted. god bless her majesty.

meat is murder

"this beautiful creature must die this beautiful creature must die a death for no reason and death for no reason is murder"

not vegetarian anymore. i love cows and i love beef and i love leather. i love hoummos tho and loads of other vegan delicacies. best be off

"thunderbolt AND LIGHTNING VERY VERY FRIGHTNING"

Hitler was not a vegetarian, contrary to popular legend. He did, however, promote a vegetarian diet as an ideal for the Aryan race as he saw it as less base and animalistic than eating meat.

I've not really encountered many hardliners to be honest - a few over-eager vegans who've just been 'born again', maybe, but if you consider that most of my friends are veggies I think the 'preachy' type is definitely in a small minority.

I have to say when an animal is killed to be eaten, and is eaten fully by appreciating recipitants I feel as though the death is more cathartic. When animals (or humans) are killed and left to rot/played with for no gain besides psychological wish then it's kinda fucked.

Another thing I've noticed is that most of the vegetarians I know (if not all of them) have chosen to leave meat aside for non-moralistic / sentimental reasons. I certainly didn't have animal welfare in mind when I switched - I just didn't want to eat the stuff anymore.

I'll eat anything, I'm an omnivore.

No prob with veggies, vegans, whatever as long as nobody tries to tell me I'm wrong for eating meat etc....No time for preachy yoghurt weavers.

I agree our demand for homogenous meat products is a terrible drain on our planet's resources. I try to avoid anything thats not local, freerange, or caught/killed by us or friends, but is not always the way.

Never said Hitler was, but I knew you'd bite on that one, as well as fill in the gaps on what I know is a contentious subject ;)

I have to say the only sanctimonious vegetarian I've ever met has been my brother, but then he is full of high principles and hypocrisies, I think they have a habit of going hand in hand.

We have pious vegans aplenty round here. One of whom didn't realise that the fact she wears wool means she can't call herself a vegan. :D

These people generally consider vegetarians to be the lowest of the low because they're 'cheating'.

I don't like to criticise other people's diets because it's ultimately up to them, but the average person eats several times more meat these days than they would have even twenty years ago. It's the food industry's fault rather than any failing of theirs, but it's something that people should consider.

Heh one of my all time best friends is a vegan, almost like a brother. It plays in to the relationship, it wouldn't be the same if he didn't tut at me and rave on about Linda McCartney vegetarian sausages :D

I never preach but when friends start a debate, which they offen have in the past.. I am happy to argue my point. Each to their own really. Live and let live and all that..well live and let die for the meat eaters ;-)

God its well hot here. Cutting the grass doesnt help. Grass grows too quick.

I'm not too fond of sanctimonious veggies either.

I'm even less fond of 'guilty' meat-eaters tho. my sister's one of them.

If you're gonna eat it, eat it and enjoy it, and make sure you eat the fucking lot and don't leave any. have some respect, basically

Saying 'awww look, bah lambs!' and feeling bad that it's on the plate in front of you, but eating it anyway.

seriously, what.the.fuck?

You're eating it, you aren't entitled to feel guilty. fuck off with your fake rationalisations that allow you to go ahead and munch on. At least take the time to understand what you're doing and have some conviction with it. be accountable for your choices

Eat it with respect, or not at all as far as I'm concerned
