Random MSN Gibberings XCIII: Moral of the story is to wank more

Are you sure that's how they were caught? The article says it's not been disclosed.
If they managed to trace people through through tor they would have first gone after the gazillion paedo's that are on there on the darknet/tor network.

smokes beat me to it...

Hasn't Uganda got this problem more under control? We're a bit late.
No idea, I only mentioned Kony in jest as it was the big sob story a few weeks ago where everyone went awww look at that and get him and a few weeks later every fucker has already forgotten about him...

I doubt it, money crimes are always the big focus and I'd hazard a guess there's more funding for the DEA than there is for chasing paedos, sick but it's reality.

What's fucking dodgy about this, and it is actually very much annoying me, is these Dutch guys are going to be extradited to the US, for making $1.2 million, between 8 of them in 2 years. What the fuck. Extradition to the US from most EU countries is a joke, their laws are extreme and if they are given a 'life sentance' over there, it means life!

Same as that kid Gary McKinnon, who has aspergers. Hacked into a US military base and found some stuff about a UFO cover up, now they want to extradite him?! It is just not right at all. I signed that free gary petition, and to be honest I would hope/doubt he will be extradited. But nobody is going to do that for 'drug dealers' who really lets face it the population of this forum would probably all love to know ha.

Maybe we should make a No Extradition of non violent criminals to the US petition?

I'm not saying it must have been traced through tor. All I'm saying is, the article says it's not been disclosed how they were caught. Maybe someone grassed on them. It just seems a bit presumptuous to blame paypal etc. If they were caught by traceable currency, why did it take two years to trace them?

get enough evidence in?
When did they implement the payments? Or added others?

Before you have a case that will stand up in court you will need a lot of proof.
It ain't uncommon for them to put people under surveillance for an extended period of time like months on end just to get enough evidence.

It makes absolutely no fucking sense. We don't need the US to prosecute people on our behalf. If we accept drug dealing is wrong (which we don't) then we are perfectly capable of prosecuting these people for dealing from Europe. These poor bastards are gonna end up doing decades in some of the worst prisons in the Western world, where they'll be raped and beaten up, for what amounts to about 60,000 euros a year.

I don't know why we send our citizens over there so freely. We could never get an American sent over here so easily. If America had any sense they would have hired Gary McKinnon as a security expert on 100k a year.

Let them dig themselves deeper so you can set an example? They only just came up on their radar, because lets face it in an industry worth billions per year half a mil a year is chump change? It took that long to get the case together and all the warrants across several countries?

McKinnon only used a script for passwords that were blank hence he could use the default one's. Not the hack of the century.

It's like Kevin Mitnick who got described as being an uber terrorist capable of launching nuclear weapons through the interwebz. He was just a clever social engineer and got 5 years.

Aye that's true. Well, it'll be interesting to follow the case anyway!

Exactly. Me and my mate are going to make a petition for it online. No extradition to the USA for non violent crimes. Gary McKinnon, Richard O'Dwayer (tv shack), these guys in that article, it's all a joke. All 3 examples there would likely be given 25 years + in a US prison, some of the worst prisons in the western world. Where if they had commited these crimes in their own countries (which they did) and were sentanced there, they would recieve a fairer trial, and a fairer sentance.

Absolutely ludicrous that peoples own governments don't fight for the right of their own citizens.

I see. I thought he was one of those gifted Aspies who had cracked made code. My mistake! America should thank their lucky stars it was just a guy doing it out of personal interest, and not somebody working for a terrorist organisation or an unfriendly government. It's their fault if they have security flaws like that. If they set up a password like 1234567 could they prosecute a so-called 'hacker'?

I read the article in DITM and the only way they traced people was because of their poor efforts on the money side of things, if they hadn't used paypal or WU then nothing would have come of it. Was the money that got them caught.

It doesn't say that in the article. As a point of fucking fact! It says it has not been disclosed. It may well have been the WU/PayPal. It probably was. But it's speculation. Highly likely speculation, but still just speculation.

EDIT sorry I'm being an arse as I have work to do and I'm putting it off by being argumentative. I'm going to go and get on with my work ;)

But it's still just speculation!

Re Louis on autism:

I like Nicky, he's ace and I love his freedom of speech angle. love his enthusiasm generally. and he's got a great attitude in relation to emotional intelligence and managing it.

I hate it when parents use the term 'special' .. urgh.

wtf's a prolodge?

The mental & physical exhaustion, which seems to be an inevitable and unavoidable side effect of parenting a severely autistic child must be insanely hard to cope with.

Louis's obviously loving some of the kids. s'nice to see

I'm never going to reproduce. fostering will be as far as I ever dare to venture when it comes to kids

Louis is doing surprisingly well with the autistics, and really helping the parents too. Nicky is brilliant. So straight talking and funny, although i'm not sure his humour is deliberate. I don't know what i'd do if I ended up with severely autistic children.

New louis theroux on autism, bbc2, on now

s'great to hear him being labelled bland by one of the kids =D

the subject matter should hopefully mean Louis drops the snideyness [sp] for once

I won't hear a bad word against Louis =D

He's a lot better than he used to be. He himself admitted to being snide and tried to move away from that direction of interviewing. He hasn't made a documentary I haven't loved though. Today was no exception.

Louis dancing with the kid in the car was the best scene for me. Proper ahww moment.

Would you ever consider fostering an autistic child?

Louis is wicked,

just been watching this...
