Haha, I know the acid debate is grating but cannae resist adding my twopennyworth...You're all correct I believe.
The way I remember it (and I'm well placed to do so, having been a pyschadelic travelling priest of the Order of the Great Ohm twixt around '85 til '91) is that if you were in the know, or if you were a traveller or knew them, you had access to acid of a quality pretty much unheard of since the early 90's. Was undoubtably a golden period, rose (multidimensional) tinted specs or not.
However, mass public availability of substances that previously catered for a niche and clued-up market exploded in the late 80's / early 90's, and the average quality of many undoubtably plummeted. For example while there used to ba a choice of Red Leb, Afghan Black, Charas etc at your local dealer suddenly soap bar was everywhere....apply to all recreationals and you're getting the flavour.
Oh, and the whizz was in a different league too
