How do they record sets by DJs who don't play off a laptop though? They're surely not still using dat tapes. I'm guessing they just have a laptop hooked up to the output of the mixer anyway?

The MC there is the brother of the DJ, and was mainly responsible for holding Exodus together for so long he is still active locally and does much work for the community, Glen Jenkins, I still see him form time to time, a really top bloke.

Your right though the crew were often more messed up than the crowd, one night everyone was on snowballs so they setup an echo on the MC mic and were rambling all kinds of weird stuff, funny as fek.

On another outdoor do this bloke just Kept on saying " will the owner of the car (enter random car plate a obviously don't remember) please move it, it is causing an obstruction " over and over, you kinda had to be there but I was pissing myself...there is a certain sense of humour that only really works when everyones on drugs:D

^^ That a lot of the time, there's usually at least one laptop kicking around a booth or on the desk these days. I've seen at least one bloke hooking up a minidisc in the last five years which was a surprise, he was French mind. There are also those Soundlab (I think) solid state recorders which are pretty much plug'n'play and fairly good from what I've seen.

The crowd noise thing is a funny one, I think a lot of venues have a mic pointed into the room which captures things like that. I've got a mate who plays a lot and he records all his sets on the laptop and usually has a mic attached in case he does something which provokes a reaction worth recording.

Basically, yeah!

I've got a pretty phenomenal old rave record which is more or less ruined by crowd noise- 'Soul All Dayer Of The Century' which is purported to be a recording of the dawn of acid house in London. Very interesting but it's a shit recording with constant airhorns and yelling and that side of it wears a bit thin when you're trying to focus on the tunes.

I really can't be doing with listening to live sets with MCs on them, its great live but with no atmosphere of the actual event it always sounds a bit lame, and the crowd noise is even worse.

My "m" key keeps sticking, really annoying grrrr..

I'm loathing to say this, but in all seriousness get a piece of kitchen roll and put a bit of olive oil on it wipe it right around the key several times, then tap that bugger really hard a good few times, usually does the trick

I gave it a blast of compressed air, which seems to have done the trick. it's a brand new keyboard too (full stripdown job to replace it) so it must've been a crumb or something. thanks for the olive oil tip though, i'll try something like that next if it plays up again.

Be thankful a naughty hotrock didnt land on it and melt itself a nice hole right through to the base of the keyboard, and this is a laptop too so no easy key replacing, just have to hammer the m key now, also managed to burn the 8 and . key,, this is works laptop too...ooopsie

what kinda laptop? I've got kate's old keyboard here if you want any replacement keys! it's a Dell Inspiron 1545, which is a pretty popular size. the keys can be popped off and replaced easily.

Airhorns are a fucking menace to society. I think the only LOL I got out of All Tomorrow's Parties was sitting in my shit chalet rolling a joint and suddenly hearing PWWWWWWWARP from our next door neighbours followed immediately by about six people going 'ffffuuuuuuuck' really angrily as someone had obviously airhorned in a very enclosed concrete room and maimed all their ears. It was actually hysterically funny but it's not really something that lends itself to a written description.

Found out earlier a guy I knew was stabbed to death for playing music too loud. What the fuck is the world coming to, seriously knife crime needs sorted the fuck out wasn't a problem here even a few years ago and that's two people I know have had to deal with them in the past year or so and only one has came out alive. I feel sorry for people living in the likes of Scotland/London where, I assume, it's a much bigger issue whatever happened to a fair dig.

Spent the whole day building Ikea Flat pack and rebuilding all my HI-Fi and shit into a new back glass stand thing. Just put my old Vintage B&O speakers and a sub on Ebay, just don't need the power these days and when I tested it all with the tiny Wharfedale diamond Speakers I was blown away at how good they were. Amazing what you cam get out of those little things, plenty enough for me

Knackered now so it must be benzo o'clock especially as Mrs atm has gone out and left me to it.

swear these valiums are different strength, supposed to be 10mg but some of them feel stronger than others
