Skim reading, sweet jesus, religion in gibberings.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but thank fuck I am an atheist.
 
^It started because I had the nerve to say i'd been to church, some people obviously took offense to that 8o

We might as well stop this debate/discussion. I don't enjoy having to defend my personal beliefs in this instance... It seems to have brought out some very virulent judgementalness in people who are otherwise alright; I accept they are atheists, don't go around trying to convert people, and I just expected a tiny amount of respect back, but apparently it's too much to ask. I seem to be in the unenviable position where the majority of Christians wouldn't accept me because I enjoy using drugs, and the majority of drug users won't accept me because I am a Christian.

Trying to find a solicitor I want to put my trust into, and who I don't have to pay for is doing my head in! I've already accepted the fact i'm hopefully being given probation with a Drug Rehabilitation Requirement, but i'd quite like to TOTALLY take away the risk of being thrown in jail for a few weeks.

Do you have a few solicitors in mind recommended by friends? Do you qualify for legal aid, or are you trying to splash some cash to improve your chances? One thing you have going for you, I hear, is that women's prisons are full to bursting point. If that gives you any reassurance?
 
I've been recommended one yeah, but they don't operate from Bristol. I don't have ANY money at all to splash. No idea about legal aid, i'm unemployed so I will probably qualify. I'm thinking of using the duty solicitor just to get my case adjourned while they prepare a report for me, as two weeks isn't enough time to make any decent progress at getting clean to make an impression on the judge.

I believe you definitely qualify for legal aid. If you have the time and inclination a quick google search throws up various lawyers in Bristol who are willing to accept these cases. So you could draw up a short list and go and visit a few to see if any of them give you a good feeling? As far as I can tell the maximum amount you can get under these schemes is around the £500 mark. Personally I wouldn't just take whichever duty solicitor happens to be available, as you are just flipping a coin and could end up with a good lawyer or a bad lawyer. You should definitely get whichever lawyer you choose to get the case adjourned so that you can clean yourself up a bit; If you could possibly get a clean piss test or two under your belt before trial it would substantially reduce your risk of being banged up. You probably know this already, but it shows you want to turn things around and it also gives the magistrate less motivation to throw you inside under the false premise that it might force you to get clean. On top of this I reckon you should also try and move flats, or even cities, to try and make it look like you've been taking positive action to turn your life around. Plus you seem to really want to any way, so once this case is over your troubles should actually be behind you. It's win win.

I never called anyone retarded. The bible is it's own evidence that it's not true. A lot of the things written in the bible obviously did not happen. You must know that. Yet you choose to believe that other parts of it are completely true (the word of god, no less 8o).

I always come across as a total arsehole when this subject comes up around someone who is a proper Christian. I can't help it. It tends to never be the religious person going on about their views or their love of christ etc (as they are often portrayed to do) but me ranting about why religion is bollocks & trying to convince them that their whole life is a lie haha. I've almost been punched over it before, which isn't very Christian like lol.

You will qualify for legal aid then. And get it sorted asap because any decent soliciter is busy. I don't trust any of them really, because they're all in the masons, dodgy handshake brigade, could be upto anything. However, it is worth having one. Nobody wants to go to jail.
