I agree. I think I've been put to the test in this small town. Everyone is out for themselves. I get so frustrated.

People seem to think that's weakness by saying please and thank you. It's not. Its ( or should be ) common courtesy.

Word to that.

I sometimes get looked at with pure surprise in the pubs round here if I smile & say "Thanks very much" when handed my pint, instead of grunting & chucking a fiver at them like most inconsiderate cunts. Or pointing to the person next to you, who has been waiting longer, when the bird tries to serve you. Works in a selfish way too though, always get served easier when it's mobbed %)

Yey! This makes Cherry happy. HOPEFULLY i'll have a job by then, or if not, my dole wages will suffice. We can get messy and along with the other northern crew who cohabit here we can show you the delights of Bristol. Hopefully should be some free parties starting up again by then!

I fullup, boyface made me leek and tattie soup, that + cider + not eating much for days = full belly!

ha ha ha Ditto. They always remember the folk that are polite. You do get special treatment. Working in the pub industry for a number of years I've always appreciated the polite folk rather than the giant jack asses. Hell you don't have to be giant, just a jackass will suffice.

I'm the same as you when it comes to this. It's been well documented how much I hate rude staff & especially the buying public. A lot of people in the shop or bar trade aren't what you call well paid, so treating them like shite is something they really don't need. Some folk think it's their god-given right to talk down to someone on a till - not me though - I love to ask them how they are & mean it. The women at the checkouts in Asda look genuinely surprised when you are friendly towards them & can't do enough for you when they realise you aren't one of the usual ignorant punters.

Might be especially hard for you as Americans tend to be more polite than Brits (IME). I mean, when I was in San Francisco recently I (accidentally) ended up holding a door open for this woman, and she said 'thank you sir'. And lots of Americans seem to use 'sir' or 'ma'am' to each other, which you'd never get here.
 
I don't say sir or Ma'am That's just me though. But courtesy doesn't cost a thing. Though my patience is wearing thin as of late.

I went to bed last night about 8:30 8o Woke up at 7:30 and all I want is my bed.

I'm thinking I've slept too much.

A tad rough today after a few too many pints, food & smoke then crashing at my dads on the couch. Need to shake off the hangover and go into town aswell.. some food and back to bed for an hour first though...;)

this time last week i was almost certain i'd be spending the near future tucked up in a cold gray cell sharing my tobacco stash and bumhole with big delroy - but alas due to the excellent work of my lawyer and the shoddy evidence collecting/handling procedures of the police. I am free to sit here in my boxer shorts smoking a fat doobie while my wife makes me bacon and eggs.

congrats watson. massive relief!!!

i've just had some really quick, decent nhs service!!! in 8-10 days time i will know whats going on with my arm. i was first told the wait would be 13 weeks. got a second opinion from a doctor who unlike the first didn't seem to think i was trying to con them out of an x ray, you can actually see one of the pins through the skin plus massive surgical scar so that was a bit odd. anyway this doctor gave me the relevant paper work to get the x ray done immediately. i was getting bad anxiety about it due to intermittent immobilisation so i'm just soooo relieved.
