I think anyone who doesn't work for themselves is a mug full stop. I don't think they're mugs because of what they're paid. They may soon end up being ineligible for housing benefit as well, which is all the more unjust when you consider the pay disparity.

Incidentally I know of one pop-star pub owner in this neck of the woods who's famously a self-proclaimed socialist, yet pays his staff minimum wage regardless.

I'm not saying who, but he's definitely not an underground type either. Lots of very-mainstream success in previouis decades.

Hopefully people are dipping in the till right now by way of redressing the balance.

Sounds like almost every socialist to me. Didn't you realise that most people who wave the socialist flag do so to clear their conscience because they have more than everyone else? Maybe i'm just being cynical, because I know that people on the left give less to charity than people on the right, but i'm pretty sure a lot of socialists think they did their part by speaking out for social change, even if that social change that would severely damage them never comes.

I think you need to verse yourself in where technology is going if you don't believe in what i'm saying. The end point of capitalism is self replicating nano bots that respond to your thought patterns of 'want'. These nanobots could form a skyscraper in front of you if you just urged it with your brain. They will be powered by abundant and free energy from nuclear fusion. The foundations of all these technologies and more are all being laid as we speak. This will probably sound like far out whacky hippy bullshit, but so would televisions and visiting the moon if you went back in time and said that to your great grandad.

It's a horrific wage but legal as I'm 20. The 4 weeks paid holiday, part time whenever I feel like it/am at college and the ability to dictate which 2 days I have off every week kind of makes up for it. Ridiculously easy job too for most of the time and plenty o free icecream and protein heavy lunches throughout the summer, leaving soon just before the busiest part of the year and heading off to uni in september.

Been at this place over 3 years and it was starting to drive me mad till I decided on a date to hand my notice in, the shite mismanagement of the place makes it worse as they waste so much money and wonder why the place is still shit.

This is based on reading a few books about the sciences and where they are and where they are going. We are already upto the point where nano LEDs can be placed on a contact lense, while it has an input that looks at the things around you in the environment and projects into your eye information. Once the software is upto scratch and the technology is perfect you'll be able to sit on a train, look at the guy in front of you and see his public profile beamed into your eye. Everything will be interactive. You'll walk into your bathroom, and a censor that measures your breath, will be able to tell you if you have any cancerous cells in your body. These are all technologies that are being advanced as we speak. By 2020 a computer chip will be cheaper than a piece of paper...

Yeah but these aren't just random quack subjects. These are the places that quantum physics and a better understanding of nuclear physics is taking us. Once they've cracked how to make chemicals quantumly, they'll be able to cure almost any disease, because they'll be able to make a SAR then instantly create the chemical. It's not mindless bullshit predictions like jet packs or flying cars. They are grounded in reality and work going on around the world.

Well obviously there is the possibility that we will all evolve wings and live solely off of oxygen and water. If you say this can't happen then you're just being arrogant, because no one knows the future 8) It's about taking an educated guess, if you disagree on the possibilities then why don't you explain to PTCH and I how the entire world is going to change it's mindset and what is going to cause this massive social change? Right now we live in a democracy, and people in this democracy and most others are so un-socialistic/communistic that they won't even vote for a party that is just left of center. But you expect everyone to miraculously have a change of heart and go radically to the left? Why?
