I went in 2002, and 2004, a much better vibe- not just turning the bush into a city club. Not quite as hippie as COnFest, but still very relaxed and fun.
Got my ticket, and as yet have not confirmed anyone out of friends, so a BL village sounds fun.

Rainbow is great. It's a truly great music festival (can't really say doof from this elitist 13 year doofer

but *technically* (as wazza said) it's not a doof cos it's just SO big BUt it has the same 'vibes' as a doof does and this would definitely be an event to remember if it was your first psy event.

I bought two tickets and only need one now so am selling for what i paid for it ($100) I think they are at 3rd or 4th round now and are over that already. Pm me.
I went a couple of years ago.. '03 I think. It's still remains as one of the best weekend I've ever had. The vibe and people were awesome. I'm not sure if it's gotten big or commercial, but I'd get in while you can if your thinking of going before it does.
